Guest guest
Hi Connie, I do believe this book is now online. I tried the search program but could not find it, is Lora's last name correct? If anyone knows the website, please provide it. True, we need an updated one, this was mostly a compilation of Lyme support newsletters. Guest guest
Hi , As all the medical histories on our web page are open to the world, I would think that everyone there would be happy for you to use them in your book also. At last count there were nearly seventy on there. Someone told me that an 'anecdotal' collection of 100 medical histories can be counted as a bona fide trial. Guest guest
Dear Group, I am confused by all of this. On the one hand, stomach acid is good. On the other hand, however, fibrofix.com says to eat Tums Extra all day, every day of your life! So, is acid good or is acid bad? Thanks, Roneice Hi Jackie; I have not read the book but I would agree. Guest guest
It is my understanding that you do need stomach acids to digest protein properly as well as to aid in the absorption of certain minerals and deal with bacteria before it gets into the bloodstream. Problems can come with reflux where the acid gets into the esophagus and damages the tissue. To be eating Tums all day to completely neutralize the acid doesn't make sense to me--but that's just my opinion. I believe -1 is protective to the stomach lining and NSAID's and other meds inhibit -1 as well as -2, thereby causing potential problems to the stomach lining. It will be interesting to read others' comments. RE: rheumatic BOOK > > Dear Group, > > I am confused by all of this. Guest guest
One person responded solely to me saying, " Hyaluronic Acid is different from stomach acid. Both are good things and essential to body processes. In FMS, our HA doesn't circulate correctly because it is too acid, so too thick and builds up. Gets out into the body tissues and can't get back out. Gets stale and can't do the job. If you read EVERY WORD of www.FibroFix.com you will understand how this works and be able to treat your illness effectively. " Not that I am well versed on any of this, and I have not had a chance to read the entire Fibro site; however, it still does not make sense how someone can eat Tums all day and it not have an affect on their stomach acid. These are only my ponderings. Regards, Roneice Re: rheumatic BOOK It is my understanding that you do need stomach acids to digest protein properly as well as to aid in the absorption of certain minerals and deal with bacteria before it gets into the bloodstream. Guest guest
Hi - I am going to chime in here..........An excellent book for RA is: " Living with Rheumatoid Arthritis (second edition), A Hopkins Press Health Book; authors: Tammi L. Shlotzhauer, MD and L. McGuire, MD " . It's a great book as it discusses learning about RA, coping, medications in detail (side effects too) - you name it. I know it can be purchased from Amazon, & Noble and other places. It is well worth the cost. It was given to me from my mom so I don't know the cost. It IS paperback although it is about 6 " x 9 " so it's not tiny! Good reading my friends!! Hugs to all! My mother in law recommended a book and I thought I would share with the group. Meredith Viera's husband, Cohen, has written a book called 'Strong at the Broken Places'. He has MS. He traveled and interviewed people with chronic illnesses and based his book on their stories. The title is based on a quote from Hemmingway. " Life often breaks us, but we become strong at the broken places. " Here is an excerpt from the book: Ninety million Americans battle chronic illness every day. But often when we think of illnesses like muscular dystrophy and Crohn’s disease, we think of the catalog of symptoms suffered by victims and not of the human beings who must live every day with these diseases. In a world where normalcy is celebrated, what is it like to live life in a wheelchair or dependent on a cane? M. Cohen I hope this helps! Thanks, --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. I tend to harp on that aspect of treatment only because I was an idiot and didn't drink enough. I thought I was drinking enough.. 7 to 8 of gatorade bottles a day, not the individual ones the medium sized ones and water and tea on top of that. But it still wasn't enough. If you get enough fluids in you then you also won't have the anemia problem as badly. I needed 3 blood transfusions during treatment and got away with only having 2. The last one was needed at the very end and the doctor just moved up my last shot and took me off the ribavirins. My last shot wast taken just 3 days after the previous one. I took one on Friday and the last one the following Monday. Then I was in bed and down for the count for 2 more weeks. When it was over, I needed IV fluids. It was pretty rough stuff. So yeah, water water water. Hugs,Teri MARKETPLACE Stay on top of your group activity without leaving the page you're on - Get the Toolbar now. Get great advice about dogs and cats.
