KT = Kombucha tea

You do not want to keep bottled KT at room temperature with a tight lid.

We are talking about a SCOBY hotel,  which is mostly SCOBY  and just enough

liquid to cover it.  I have never had one explode, its a different process.   I

use  canning jars with the plastic lids  which are purchased separately.  One or

two quart jars are what I normally use ( Wide Mouth).   Other jars can be used,

this is just my preference.   The plastic lids are not exactly  air tight  but

will prevent  dehydration  and molds.

Oh, I see. What is KT? ...I'm new to all of this. Also, I had read that if you

cover with a tight lid that the jar will explode?? ...how long can you leave the

scobys in the hotel, they won't go bad? Lastly, where do you get your large jars

for this project?

Thanks,

Debbie

Went well,  have used most of it to prime my continuous brew tank.

,  the scoby continues to thicken,  never had one obscure the spigot  tho I

suppose thats possible  if you don't remove some of the scoby  from time to

time.    I had one get so thick  there wasn't much room left for the brew.

My preferred method is to just  cut the scoby in half,  put the other half  in

your " hotel " .    I don't pull apart the layers  because certain components  seek

out certain layers,  so ppulling them apart would cause an imbalance in

components in the next brew.
