Guest guest
Hi Josh, Did you read about him in the Philly Inquirer? They just did an article about him last Sunday. From what I've found out he treats " tick-borne diseases " and not just Lyme. I have an appointment with him on 5/25. I think he does all his tests thru Igenex. But he doesn't take any form of insurance, so it seems like its going to be a very expensive visit. I have his phone number and address, e-mail me privately if you want the info. Take care,

Guest guest
Hi Cooky: Your posting reminded me that I should share my scenario last week. Was sitting at the computer at home and next thing I knew, found a tick (dog, not deer tick) just starting to bite me right smack in the middle of my stomache. I pulled it out quickly, cleaned the area, put Neosporin and a bandaid without much thought. Until the next day. I had a huge, red, hot, itchy welt, about 3-4 inch diameter, and the bite area got oozy (ick). It drove me nuts. So, I called my GP and saw him on Friday. By then, it had calmed down a little. Anyway, he said that it appeared to be an allergic reaction but I am to get tested for Lyme's in a couple of weeks anyway - it takes time before it shows in blood. (went through that whole game last year while trying to get diagnosed with the RA). He gave me cortisone cream which helped. The point (sorry, I digress): this was the first time he had seen me since I started the AP and he was thrilled. When he last saw me, I had been given an emergency systemic cortisone shot and was going back to a rheumy at his insistence. He knew from that point that I was put back on prednisone, then increasing doses of methotrexate. I had been in a tremendous amount of pain and was swollen like a sausage. When he saw me Friday, he couldn't believe it. He agreed to be the dr. to take over when Dr. Trentham releases me (this month). I do not want to go back to my local rheumy and had told Dr. Trentham that I wanted this GP to take over. Dr. T was very agreeable, will see me every 6 months, and provide oversight when needed with my GP. My GP is very enthusiastic and when the appointment was over, was walking out of the office, faced still stuffed into my files, still mumbling " Wow, neat! " . :>) Babs RA 8/98, DX 4/99, AP 11/99 200 mg. Minocin 112 mcg. Synthroid 2 mg. Hytrin 10 mg. Lipitor Mestinon Vits. & Misc. Suplmts. Guest guest
Jim, I'm in Chicago but I don't know Dr. Brannigan. Where is he located? I've got Dr. Alan M. Reich who just relocated to Resurrection Professional building on Talcott Avenue. So far I'm happy with him. I've got a follow up for blood work in a couple of weeks. And of course do the blood test in the morning no food and no androgel so you get a decent " normal " reading. I am sure the experts here will have further suggestions. norton
Guest guest
Hey Adam, you best bet, if you are still on therapy is to get your T levels, free and total, and your E2 (Estradiol) tested. If you want a very good work-up, you may need to go off of TRT for a couple of weeks and then have the following panels run: Total Testosterone Bioavailable Testosterone (sometimes called " Free and Loosely Bound " ) DHT Estradiol (specify by the Extraction Method) LH FSH Prolactin Cortisol TSH CBC Comprehensive Metabolic Panel Lipid Panel PSA (if over 40) IGF-1 (if HGH therapy is desired) Some of these would be impacted by your current TRT, such as LH and FSH. But this is a pretty good start. Did you have any labs run when you were trying the various therapies or did you doctor just jump you around? Do you feel that these therapies are not working? How are you feeling? > Hi Guys, > > My family doc originally diagnosed my low T. Guest guest
Me next... You mentioned you went from 1 patch to 2, 1 gel-pack to 2. I assume this was because you were just not hitting your mark. If I'm correct, you may want to mention that to the new doctor. There are other therapies available including shots, pellets, and hCG (if you are secondary). Some of the guys here in the group have had great results with the gels. Perhaps a different type like Testim might work for you. I think it's great that you were able to get an appointment with an endo who actually specializes (or at least knows something about hypogonadism. That could be very good news for you. I really liked how thourough my endo was, but became frustrated when he could not wrap his mind around treatment. Only offered me shots every 2 weeks. If you have an endo who is knowledgeable then wow, how very nice for you. I can't wait to hear more and hope you really have found a good one. Good luck. y > Hi Guys, > > My family doc originally diagnosed my low T. Look at the AACE guidelines: http://www.aace.com/pub/pdf/guidelines/hypogonadism.pdf See how diagnosis is supposed to proceed. Too may docs put you on gel before getting all the necessary tests done. Has anyone for example talked about an MRI with you? Has he done follow up T and free T tests since you started gel? Give us a thorough write up of what they've done for you (and to you ;-> ). Guest guest
see if by coincidence you can find a doctor who is also a patient of hypogonadism. That may or may not matter. sjrost <sjrost@...> wrote: Thanks for the assistance. I used the list of doctors in the files section and found a good list of doctors in the Kansas City area. Guest guest
If you live near MI. Dr. will see you one time and the rest of the time he will order labs over the phone or Email and treat you this way. Guest guest
Im hoping you still have some refills left because I would go ahead and get them filled and go back to my original routine. I know others as well as myself have been suceptible to the same emotional outbursts. That old doctor is a SOB for taking you off just to see what it would do. Since you were having success, how dare he recommend such a thing. ly I think it was none of his business and he went beyond his purvue in taking you off your successful program. If you were having problems I could understand his suspucions but what you were doing was working. Well, go ahead and tell him the truth and ask him if he is amused. Getting back on TRT may take a while. There may possibly be a transition phase once you re-start therapy. I wouldn't stop my therapy unless I had prostate cancer. Other than that I would simply switch doctors. Time to talk to Dr. . Considering your situation, I'd get to Dr. regardless of cost. philip georgian <pmgamer18@...> wrote: If you live near MI. Guest guest
If Clomid is the only issue with your Doc I would continue to get the Test. by script and buy the Clomid online somewhere.
