Guest guest
Hey Robin- Or another way to think about glutathione depletion is the other way around…is something blocking us from absorbing it. Well…speaking of that… In another group I belong to is an incredible scientist Rich Van Konynenburg. Googling him results in a zillion of his articles/papers with many having a focus on glutathione. Rich is an amazing man who so freely and tirelessly continues to give so much of himself/expertise and has helped so many PWC's, particularly those in the CFS/CFIDS community. He is so well respected and his never ending devotion to the various webgroup members with such valuable feedback that we might never be able to afford. Like Yasko, he has written/posted much about the methylation cycle and one that may be of interest is his " Glutathione Depletion-Methylation Cycle Block " papers. It has 2 parts and is well worth reading if one has an interest on the relationship between glut depletion and methyl block. The article provides links to the Yasko group of which he is a frequent contributor, along with the group. I am doing parts of Rich's simplified protocol and hope to work my way up to the whole thing. Anyway, here's the article and although written a few years back, much still applies: http://www.ei-resource.org/articles/chronic-fatigue-syndrome-articles/simple-met\ hylation-treatment-protocol-for-chronic-fatigue-syndrome/ We are so fortunate to have top notch compound pharmacies like Silby, Wellness, etc who are so open to various delivery systems. I remember years ago when transdermals and even various suppositories were skeptically viewed. Thanks to people like Yasko, Perlmutter and many others, such gains have been made with not only glut but less invasive/potentially more absorbable methods of administration. Now we just gotta get the insurance companies to cover it..lol.. With your Silsby glut, I assume it's a compound and wonder if you would be willing to post the list of your base ingredients? Is it alcohol and preservative free particularly the usuals like the parabens, sodium benzo, etc? The bases are always a challenge as in some cases the available individual compounded ingredients might include scary stuff but no available alternatives for specific functions like optimal absorption, recycling, etc. We went through that with my transdermal DHEA and finally found a base with of all things, an OTC lotion that I am doing well with yet still have good absorption. For my other hormones, I use troches (like a lozenge) inserted between my cheek and gum which then dissolve into the bloodstream. And a LOT more cost effective as I order in bulk. Troches have proven to be my most long term, effective method of hormone administration so far and as we titrate my DHEA transdermal upward, we are watching this with much interest. I have never had much success with trans before, so for this DHEA to be working is pretty significant. My doc really wants me to change all my hormones to the trans so we shall see. But the next time I consult with my out of state doc, think I will ask him about transdermal and troches glut. Since glut is a water soluble anti-ox, I can't see it being anywhere near as complicated as when we had to figure out how to compound CoQ10 troches. But being a tripeptide, not sure if something different has to be done for troche form that involves scary ingredients. And of course, will also have to see about the cost. I have heard from many that neub/spray glut seems to have a rev-me-up effect. Makes total sense to me cause of the direct line to the BBB thus potentially the entire nervous system. Perhaps this may also apply to your `creepies " and my version of it is " the jumping out of my skin thing " . Have tripped upon so much written for PWC's that sometimes the only form of B12 that really works for us is the hydroxo form. So I switched over to it in combo with the methyl and folic acid, must admit that even in spite of my toxic house situation, I am feeling calmer. Yet if one has a neubulizer, perhaps the 2:1 ratio of B12-hydroxo and quality folic acid would also help. Dr Grace Zeim talks about this in her treatment protocol as calming down the ANS: http://www.chemicalinjury.net/html/neural_sensitization__treating.html Introducing ALA or RALA to C and Glut to equal the detox cocktail may also have a revving effect for some. I owe Dr so much, she taught me well and I always teased her about being so aggressive w/her protocols. But then she would always remind me to start low and work up to tolerated doses. Her published detox cocktail calls for 1 tsp Klaire Ascorbic Pwdr (about 2600mg) 400mg Recanco and 300 up to 600 ALA. It was very harsh for me but I did it anyway for many years after I got sick. Then my stomach couldn't take it anymore. So after much trial and error, I found a fantastic buffered C that is like no other I have ever tried and am doing very well with it and no stomach issues like w/ascorbic. So I piecemeal about 3500mg of this C, 1 scoop 400mg Recanco and only 100mg of the RALA right now. Tried to increase to 200 RALA and no go so backed down and am hoping that is because I am taking a more bioavailable form than the ALA. But so far this piecemeal cocktail is keeping my head above water with my current house situation. So there you have it...glut glut glut....I'm just always obsessed with glut…lol…. Kathy ---------------------------------------------------------- > Kathy,Thank you for this info. I am using Lee Silsby Transdermal. It is expensive. I spend about 80$ including shipping a month but it is worth it. I have tried nasal which would send me into what I am guessing was a detox or some sort of inflammation reaction in my sinuses and brain area.. resulting in crazy neuro symptoms. I feel the same when I inhale some chemicals and mold. So I dont know if it was detox reaction or a CIRS like reaction to the formula going up my nose. Switched to the Lee Silsby brand and it helps. When my gait goes off, nerves start to act up and feel " crazy creepies " under my skin, in my muscles.. this stuff helps. I may also take a sublingual methyl b12 (jarrow brand) and kavinace as well. Kavinace contains taurine and a derivative of GABA that crosses the blood brain barrier. I take at least 6000mg of vitamin c a day. I may experiment with the r-lipoic…snip….... >Robin
