Guest guest
One year ago, I answered the below question on " Answers " http://answers./ This is a non-interactive service of , where all the answers are voted on, to determine which answer was [subjectively] the best answer. I was just notified that my answer was voted the " best " answer to the question. I'm posting the question and answer on OUR board, as an example of how we should all spread the word of the existence of our board, to everyone that WE THINK might be suffering from mold exposure. God Bless, Joe QUESTION: Breathing problem, any advice? DOCTORS PLS!? Breathing problem, any advice? I have been in and out of the doctors office more than I can count. I am seeing a pulmonary specialist at the moment. I am having difficulty breathing. Mainly after climbing stairs. Walking across campus I feel winded, almost like I'm carrying to much weight. But walking up my stairs at home (13 steps) or taking my shirt off in the bath room my head starts to pound and it's hard to breath. I have to sit down to catch up. its also harder to breath when i am laying down. I am female, 21 years old, 5'5, 125 pounds and was a gymnast for 5 years when I was younger (just added that to show I have been active without this problem) I do not have asthma, been tested for that. Had an EKG, Echogram, all normal. He is sending me for a CT scan tomorrow. I don't know if any of this other info will help, but honestly I'm at the end of my rope, so here it is. As a kid I had a concussion at 9 and some small head injures after that. I don't remember the entire day from that and apartley the fall was so bad they thought i had broken bones in my face (i didnt thank God) I eat a lot of sugary foods, if i don't have sugar or caffeine i tend to shake and feel like im in a dream and weak. My skin is also discolored around my ankles and feet. could diabetes be a possibility? also, my mother has sleep apnea and I just completed a sleep clinic to be tested because I have insomnia and its out of control.(i have to wait another week for those results. I am aways sleepy. I can sleep for 20 hours, or not at all. If it is infact sleep apnea could it all just be from this needing to be treated? sorry this is so long, i'm just worried and tired of bouncing around from doctor to doctor. i just want to know some possibilities. I know that i should listen to my doctor--i do--please don't tell me that. its been some time and they guy is still stumped. test after test, bill after bill. my insurance will be out in a few weeks and wont be able to afford much after that. just want opinions about what it could be, not the fact that im asking on here = ) thank you. Additional Details I've done yoga, the thing is even that is to much for me to handle, my heart starts to beat extremely fast and i get sharp chest pains. the worse is i start to black out, not all the time, just a few. 1 year ago Additional Details i am seeing pulmonary specialist. everything isnt as simple as heres my symptoms this is what it is. if it was he would have had me diagnosed by now. again, if ur just going to say see your doctor, listen to ur doctor, just dont. i do listen to my doctor, im simply looking for opinions. thank you. Best Answer - Chosen by Voters I am not a doctor, but based on my own personal experience, I am certain that most of your symptoms are caused by being exposed to mold that is growing in your home. Mold needs a moist, humid environment to grow, and the one room, in any home, that provides this best, is the bathroom, where you have your worst symptoms. This is not to say that the ONLY place in your home with mold, is your bathroom. But, the mold spores floating through the air, from other parts of your home, find the ideal environment to start growing , in your bathroom. The reason that your pulmonary specialist has not been able to diagnose you, is that TOXIC mold illness is not taught in medical school, so that any breathing problem, that does not show up in an x-ray, CT Scan, or MRI, is automatically labled " asthma " , unless blood tests do not show an IgE mediated typical asthma profile. At that point, most doctors try to convince the patient that their breathing " problem " is " all in their head " , and it they were not neurotic, their breathing problem would disappear. Most patients buy into their doctor's crappola, as they, the patient certainly feels neurotic and stressed out. Who wouldn't feel that way, if they WEREN'T BREATHING? Luckily, there is a very easy way to confirm my diagnosis. Just move out of your home for 2 weeks, or more, and see if you notice any improvement in your symptoms. If you do, then it is definitely something in your home that is making you sick. The 2 week minimum test period, is due to the fact that toxic mold reaction begins to disappear very slowly, over a period of weeks. This is different from an " allergic/asthmatic " reaction to mold, which begins to disappear in just hours or days, once you are removed from the moldy environment. Your absence from your home must be total, as even a 5 minute re-exposure to the moldy home, will erase ALL of the detoxification that you have acheived, and you will find yourself feeling just as sick as you are now, and you will then come to the wrong conclusion that I must be wrong about my diagnosis, and you will continue getting sicker, until you die from the toxic mold exposure, as my father died from toxic mold exposure, last year. has an online forum, in which hundreds of people who are, or have been, sick from toxic mold exposure, discuss this problem, and seek solutions. The feature is called " " . On , click on " Health Groups " , and then select the health group called " SICKBUILDINGS " . It differs from " Answers " , in having the ability to have an email-based " back-and-forth " conversation, about the subject being discussed, between many people. It also has an archive of thousands of of past emails, that can be searched by topic, or contributor. I am now going to tell you something that I hope will scare you into taking the IMMEDIATE action of getting out of your home. " TOXIC " mold reaction differs from allergic/asthmatic mold reaction, in that asthma is always " reversible " once you get away from the mold, or anything else that is making you sick. In a " mold-free " environment, an asthma " rescue " inhaler will always improve your breathing. A " TOXIC " mold reaction, if it lasts long enough (each person is different), is IRREVERSIBLE.- TOXIC mold physically destroys many organs and systems of the body, and once the destruction is visible on x-rays, CT Scans, or MRI's, it is too late to repair the damage done to your body. Insomnia and sleep apnea are also symptoms that many toxic mold sufferers experience, so it would be a good idea if your mother took the 2 week vacation, along with you, to see if HER health improves. I have personally experienced the extremely fast heart rate and chest pains, caused by toxic mold exposure. The symptoms you experience, if you DON'T eat sugary foods, are probably caused by mold, but it wouldn't hurt to get a prescription for a blood glucose meter (the finger-sticker), to make sure that you don't also have hypoglycemia (the opposite of diabetes). I once had a girlfriend, with hypoglycemia, who, an hour or two after every meal (when blood sugar levels drop to their lowest), would always black out and fall to the floor. Another unlikely possibility, for your starting to black out, considering you had a good EKG and Echogam, would be an irregular, or " skipping " heartbeat. To eliminate this possibility, you have to go to a cardiologist, and request a " Holter Monitor " , which is an EKG that you wear on a strap around your neck, (weighs less than a pound) and it records your heartbeat through those wires attached to your body with those sticky little patches. It is worn for 24 hours, wherever you go, and is returned to the doctor, where the microchip inside, is removed, and put into a computer to be read. They usually don't give Holters to people under 65, so you might have to demand it, to make sure that the mold has not affected your heartbeat.
