Guest guest
I just finished reading all the posts (146) of them from the past 4 days. I wanted some of your opinions on a topic that came on several times in the posts. It seems that a lot of you feel bad if you can't get to a TAEBO workout everyday, even thought you are substituting another form of exercise in place of it. I used to be like that. I did TAEBO EVERYDAY for 13 months. If I couldn't TAEBO I felt like crap. I was so bad that I brought my video to my classroom at the school I teach and did my Basic workout in my classroom while my students were at lunch. I think the rest of my faculty thought that I had " lost it. " Anyway, a friend of mine asked me to start running with her before school and I really enjoyed that. I also started reading a lot about fitness. Doing the same thing everyday: even if you love that thing, can make your workout less challenging. It made sense to me. In the last year I have really started to cross train. My workout schedule is much more flexible that it used to be. I try to fit in about 9 hours of " working out " a week. Taebo usually takes about 4 of those hours. But I don't have to do it everyday. I try to fit inn one day of step aerobics, about 1 1/2 of strength training (3 days w/30 minutes a day) and then whatever else fits. Treadmill, walking on the beach, biking, dancing with my husband at a club, etc. This is so much more flexible and I feel more challenged because I use different muscles all the time. I try to add something new about every 3 months. This month I want to try water aerobics. Lastly, for those of you that have kids and spend half your time driving them form activity to activity, do what I learned to do. I keep a gym bad with socks, cross training shoes and a rubber tubing (for strength training) in my car. While I am waiting for them to finish at a baseball or soccer practice, I run. I can always find a route in a neighborhood, and I feel like I am using my time more wisely than sitting in the car reading a magazine. I believe that if I am going to incorporate fitness in my life for the rest of my life, crosstraining and flexibility are the key ingredients. Beach --who is sorry that this is so long!
