Guest guest
No soy sauce? Is there a reason? I hadn't used Worchestershire on it but is that a substitute for soy because you don't want to eat soy? I do have some of that.  Did you put it on top of rice? I like broccoli in mine and someitmes cauliflower, and carrots. Oh carrots help to make it sweet and celery, too. I would put peppers in it (sweet) if my husband would eat them, but he won't. We usually put chicken in ours or have in the past. My husband would love it with shrimp.   I had never put sprouts in before but I particularly liked the look of the pea sprouts. I didn't get what kind of sprouts you had 2nd. It did look good. I don't think I've ever put tomatoes in a stirfry, but I do love tomatoes. I sometimes just eat a tomato for a snack, the whole thing with a tiny bit of sea salt.  Thanks for showing us as we got to see a stir fry with different veggies in it that we may be used to. Sure gives us more options. I bought one Aerogarden new and just bought another for $60 and got a call for one I was going to buy last week and she is back in town from a family emergency. So I can get that one too - it is $50.  I think I'm going to and I have greens, edible flowers, herbs to put in them. I would like a tall one for tomatoes or a tomato and a pepper (sweet). The guy I got this one from said it produced so much it was wasted as he didn't eat it that fast. I figured I had neighbors who would like it and I live in a mobile home park where we have widows who live here year round. I don't know many women who don't like a salad. I am concerned about herbs though so I do need to find out more how to freeze or how to dry them. I had seen directions of a dehydrator that used a light bulb. Does anyone have any directions on building or an inexpensive one that works well? Maybe one that works in microwave? Or oven? Guest guest
Carolyn: I don't use soy sauce because I generally keep away from any kind of soy because of the estrogen properties. I only eat Tempeh which is a fermented soy product. I've been told it's okay so that's what I love. Weren't the colors of the pea shoots amazing? And why not try adding some sliced cherry tomatoes to your next stir fry?. They are small, they don't dilute the recipe, they stay in their shape and not disintegrate like a regular tomato would do. I've read that cooked tomatoes are renowned for their lycopene so that's why I use them. And they really make a dish very colorful. And my bean sprouts came out just dandy. All in all it's a good dish. Guest guest
Hey Carolyn, regarding drying herbs and stuff. Up north we would snip off the stalks of fresh herbs, bundle them up and hang them up to dry. But if you live in FLA, it might be a little too humid to do that ( mould growth). Yuck! So, if you don't have a dehydrator, if you lay your herbs out on a tray in the oven (toaster oven works great!) it should come out OK. BUT, and a big BUT it is .... keep the heat down low!! 100F or 30C should do the trick. What I generally do, is dry certain herbs together in a bundle. then, when I make soup or stock, I wrap the bundle up in cheese cloth and add it to the broth. No mess. Cheers Don
