I have a Vitamix and don't use it as often as  should.  I've gotten into

sprouting and got me an Aerogarden and then picked up 2 on Craigslist.  I have

salad greens, herbs and flowers starting to come up after about 5 days.

Flowers are taking the longest though.  It may be because it is in a used

machine and I didn't change the lights in it.  One of these mornings if I ever

get up early, I'll turn it off and change out at least one light and see if it

makes a difference.  I had one reflector (strips of silver mylar) that I put on

it so it has more reflected light right now.  I am pretty excited.  I ordered

one for my son and daughter as an early Christmas present.  They aren't as

excited as I am about it.  I hope they get that way once they see the plants

coming up.  It was buy 2 and get one free so I got a bit larger one for me for

tomatoes.  They were out so I am waiting on a backorder.  I am starting to put

things out in the yard even

though it isn't the best time to plant.  Our planting in so. fl is in the

fall.  the strawberries are doing well though.  I put them in potting soil and

it is in a box I ordered off LTD Commodities and has a water basin under and the

roots grow down and the water is siphoned up.  My husband waters once or twice

a day as well.  A neighbor watered when we were gone a week and they did

wonderfully.  I already have blooms on them and he just planted them the 16th

or 17th of last month.  I need to get me a paint brush and go out and make sure

they get polinated by helping with a paint brush (tiny artistic one).

I was looking at making wheat grass juice and it is recommended for a juicer.

There are you tubes for doing it in a Vitamix.  The Blendex may do what the

Vitamix will do, but if you tried that, you would need a milk bag to strain

it.  I love the sprout people site as I am learning so much.  There is a woman

on there who has MS and she grows all her own food.  She even has some cows

which a neighbor keeps for her so she gets raw milk and can make cheeses and

butter.  She plants corn, beans and squash as the Indians did - the 3 sisters

method to help each other with corn in middle for beans to grow on and squash to

shade the roots and ground.  Maybe you just need to get with some people who do

those kind of things and you will feel that you have a lot to learn from them

and then you can lead the others if they want to be led.  Some in the group are

vegan but not all.  I don't intend to give up all my meat, but may cut it back

a bit.  I don't

have a love with tofu, and the squish of it makes me hesitant to try it.  But

broccoli is good and so is kale.  And he sprouts of broccoli are very healthy

and maybe better than the actual leaves of the plant.    check it out.  It

has been inspiring to me.  Check it out.

I have a Blendtec and love, love, love it! I have a Blendtec Bliss board on

pinterest:)

People keep joking and calling me hippie mama bec I do do many natural and

healthy preps in the kitchen. Ha, ha!

I have grinding my own flour and making whole grain breads and baked goods but I

haven't started sprouting bec I was being too much of a perfectionist.
