Guest guest
(non washable items) if only spores can put them outside for a few days be ok or in the dryer? YES, LET THEM AIR OUT OUTSIDE, THAT WILL DO JUST FINE. I WOULDN'T PUT THEM IN THE DRYER. don't want to drive you crazy but do you vacuum first then wipe down or vice versa? I WOULD VACUUM FIRST to get all spores out. do we open all windows while it is being cleaned to air out? I WOULD, YES, AND FOR SEVERAL DAYS AFTERWARD FOR A FEW HOURS EVERY DAY IF IT ISN'T TOO COLD. AIRING OUT SHOULD BE A REGULAR PRACTICE ANYWAY dog hit on 2 boxes and we had already emptied several so don't know if he would have hit on any more, IF YOU UNPACKED THE BOXES AND THE ITEMS ARE IN THE HOUSE SOMEWHERE AND THE DOG DIDN'T DETECT MOLD ON THOSE ITEMS THEN THEY ARE OK, NO MOLD, NO WORRIES hard surface furniture. it was put in a separate truck and driven to co. it is now at my ex husbands. it has not been wiped down. i just assumed i could never have it around me again. wonder if vacuum and wiped i can have it in my new house. YES, YOU COULD maybe some of the stuff can come in after wipe down, but i am scared to contaminate. how do you ever really know? MY EXPERIENCE WITH MOLDY ITEMS COMING INTO THE HOUSE IS AS SOON AS THEY ARE REMOVED I STOP REACTING. DON'T WORRY ABOUT SPORES CONTAMINATING ANYTHING, THEY WILL DISAPPEAR WHEN YOU AIR OUT. WIPE DOWN YOUR FURNITURE AND BRING IN ONE PIECE AT A TIME. IF NO ONE GETS SICK OR REACTS THEN IT'S OK. THEN TRY ANOTHER PIECE OF FURNITURE AND SO ON. the mold guy didn't do air sampling said it could change by tomorrow so not a good indicator THAT'S RIGHT. AT THIS POINT YOU DO NOT NEED AIR SAMPLING. THE MOLD GUY MADE THE RIGHT DECISION. YOU HAVE TOO MUCH WORK TO DO FIRST. WHEN YOU ARE ALL DONE REMEDIATING, VACUUMING, WIPING DOWN, BRINGING IN FURNITURE YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT AND THEN FINDING OUT IT'S OK AND YOU ARE ALL SETTLED AND NO ONE IS SICK OR REACTING, THEN EVERYTHING IS FINE AND NO AIR SAMPLING IS NEEDED. IF EVERYTHING ISN'T FINE THEN MAYBE YOU CAN CONSIDER IT. , maybe he should have b/c you had a certain kind in the mobile home and i would like to know. I HAD A REASON TO DO IT. 1) NO DOG TO SNIFF IT OUT. 2) NO VISIBLE MOLD BUT I WAS SUSPICIOUS OF A PROBLEM. 3) I WAS HAVING PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS. AT THIS POINT YOU DON'T NEED AIR SAMPLING. he id the inferred light in the hit areas, humidity reading in crawl space was 30. he said the house was very clean. YOU ARE BLESSED. HUMIDITY LOW, NO MOLD i still worry about everything. should he have done sampling? NO, I ONLY MEANT YOU COULD DO AIR SAMPLING IF AFTER EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO DO HAS BEEN DONE BUT PEOPLE ARE STILL GETTING SICK OR REACTING AND THERE IS A REASON TO BELIEVE IT IS MOLD, THEN YOU CAN. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND NO ONE IS SICK OR REACTING. THUS, NO MOLD. maybe carl can give his opinion about the sampling. he had the dog and inferred and hum in crawl that was about it. READ MY POST ABOUT WHY I HAD IT DONE AND CARL'S REPLY. YOU WILL SEE MY SITUATION WAS DIFFERENT. thank you so much for your time. very helpful. will have a cleaning lady and daughter on monday and tues clean as you said, and ordered air purifiers so hope good to go. DID YOU ALREADY GET THE REMEDIATION DONE? IF NOT, YOU MIGHT AS WELL WAIT ON THE WIPING DOWN OF THE WALLS. ARE YOU LIVING IN THE HOUSE NOW? IS ANYONE GETTING SICK? REACTING? IF NOT, THEN THE MOLD IN THE WINDOW IS NOT REALLY A PROBLEM, SO NO WORRIES ABOUT SPORES EITHER. do need to have carpet cleaned, but too sensitive to chem, SAME HERE AND I ALSO HAD TO HAVE CARPET CLEANED SO I EXPLAINED TO THE GUY ABOUT MY SENSITIVITIES. HE SAID HE USED A VERY MILD SHAMPOO AND AGREED TO GO BACK OVER IT WITH WATER ONLY TO RINSE THE SHAMPOO ALL BACK OUT. I ALSO KEPT ALL THE WINDOWS OPEN AND I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. IT SMELLED VERY BRIEFLY AND AIRED OUT WELL. JUST USE HEAT TO HELP IT DRY. I AM NOT FAMILIAR WITH RENTAL SHAMPOOERS, IF YOU CAN USE YOUR OWN PRODUCTS IN THEM OR NOT. THEY MAY COME WITH A WARNING ONLY TO USE THEIR SHAMPOOS IN CASE SOMETHING HAPPENS TO THE SHAMPOOER AND YOU ARE LIABLE. HOPE EVERYTHING WORKS OUT WELL FOR YOU. :-) anita
