bucket and want to know if, when it is ready to go into the composting bin, can

i use hay as a material to mix with it ?.....we don't have any " dirt " or leaves

EW, what about shredded paper?  I shred most things with any personal info on

it, even my name and address.   I know that here are " lasagna " gardens where

they use some shredded paper or even just newspaper that is put over the

ground.   Can it be added o compost heaps with kitchen waste?  And in what

ratio?  I have a lot more shredded paper or newspaper than I do waste.  I had

a problem with that as i didn't empty it every day and had ants and flying bugs

but when I took it outside the bugs disappeared.  I think sun on the stainless

steel or the spiders that took up residence out front got the bugs that were a

problem.  But I haven't really started the compost bin yet or the trash can

composter.

I don't have hay or straw.  No leaves either.
