Guest guest
 What about Jan - March when it is not hurricane season and is cold in the mountains? It is wonderful down here then. I know someone I went to school with and she left Port Charlotte too and moved to Ky, I think. I think the hurricane scared her out. They were okay.  It is absolutely lovely here in the winter. Hurricane season is June 1 to Dec. 31 or thereaouts. This year we had some tropical storms before that forming by Africa but didn't come here.  Some have been in early December. But Jan - March is so beautiful. Sometimes it does get cold for a week or so but sure different from up north. Your weather there may be better than many of our viitors though. When the Canadians came down last year it was 20 below 0 in Quebec. Was still cold when they went back in April. They usually start coming down in November. They can only stay 6 months, less 1 day in the states because of their insurance. They have to get a upplement for down here.  Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Saturday, June 9, 2012 9:45 AM Subject: Re: I am now growing Stevia  Although most of my family is still in Port Charlotte, I can hardly bear to go down there. NOTHING is the same, and it was shocking how unbelievably destructive the hurricane was there. I used to spend MOST of my time down there, coming here to the mountains often, but that was my home...I haven't been there in years now, and stay only a few days when I do go...the hurricane ruined it for me (and was very traumatic for my daughter-she doesn't like to go there anymore either) > > I went to Port Charlotte a year or two after Charley went through. There was still rebuilding going on and there were a lot of things that were missing. It was more of a fishing community than a tourist area. There weren't a lot of things to see. > > > Carolyn Wilkerson > > >
