Guest guest
Yesterday was by the worst day I had in terms of my symptoms, I felt so bad that I stayed in bed all day. This morning when I woke up while my condition did improve I still felt pretty crappy so I decided to start getting what few things I have together and move. Im not sure exactly where Im going yet but I do plan on staying in hotel for the next 3 days. If I cant find permanent affordable housing here I'll more than likely move back to my home town were finding someplace to live wont be such a challenge. My relationship with my g/f is all but over as there's no way I can put her through having to decontaminate herself everytime we want to see each other again, we went through that for 4 months already and it's just to difficult for both of us. I'll be honest Im sitting here crying, I just cant for the life of me understand how something like this can happen. It's one thing to become afflicted with something that threatens your health but to lose everything that you've ever loved because of it is just cruel. I've said this a few times but I honestly wish I had cancer, at least I know there would be an end to the suffering but with mold you never know when your going to be exposed again but when you are it's guaranteed its going to cost you everything that means anything to you. I think what scares me the most is I cant figure out whats the safest way to move and not contaminate my new residence. The only thing Im taking with me is my cell phone. What concerns me is my truck , there's no way I can afford to get rid of it if it's contaminated. Beings I wont have my laptop I'll try to post periodically from my cell phone. Guest guest
When was your surgery? I think it's normal for some of the packing to come out on its own once you start putting drops in your ear. Have you started drops? About 2 weeks after my surgery (one week into the drops) I had a large piece of packing come out of my ear. I just had my first follow-up appointment last week and everything looks great. I wouldn't worry too much if I were you. Guest guest
Leeah, I had the dissolvable type of packing. I never had to use drops after my surgery...actually my surgeon told me not to use the drops while the packing was still in my ear...I wouldn't pull any out but if it falls out I believe it is ok. My surgeon had an after hours number to call with any questions after office hours just to double check...you may want to try calling and seeing if your surgeon has that or not as well. Guest guest
All the 5 ops i've had i was given a leaflet with what to do if part of the packing started to come out, its says do not pull it, just snip the end off and thats all,my last op in MAy it all stayed in, but if you think, there alot stuffed in there and as you move your jaw when talking/eating it will move about, i guess. > > > >hi all > >need some advice fast please not supposed to be having my packing out of my ear > >until 13th dec but it has started coming out just now too late in evening to > >call gp or consultant for advice does anyone know what i do? thanks leeah > > > > >
Guest guest
Exactly the same happened with my son. As it heals it does start to fall out and that's fine, just don't PULL any out actively. Snip of the bits that come out naturally and try to tuck the cut end back in securely. Don't worry to much, sounds totally normal to me. We had that ribbon type bandage the first time and that's exactly what happened (it's like a magician trick there are generally several meters of the stuff in there!), with the second op we had the dissolvable stuff and that took a few post op visits to suction out fully. Oh, and by 13th December I guarantee you'll be sick of the pong from the BIPP that they soaked that dressing in before they inserted it.... No point in talking to your GP about it, he/she won't have a clue. Been there, done that one !!
Guest guest
Yeah, there's tons of the packing in there. After my first surgery, my mom almost fainted when she saw how much bloody packing the doc was pulling out (and she was not a fainter-type). Good luck! > > > > hi all > > need some advice fast please not supposed to be having my packing > > out of my ear > > until 13th dec but it has started coming out just now too late in > > evening to > > call gp or consultant for advice does anyone know what i do? > > > > Leeah, > > Just as everyone else said, snip off the piece that's coming out and don't worry - there'll be plenty more inside, you won't believe how much until they remove it ! Guest guest
Hi all,Thankyou all for the messages of advice about the packing. In the end I did just snip the end off. I phoned the consultant the next day who said this was the right thing to do. The packing I have isn't dissolvable and I don't have drops to use. I have to go back to the hospital on the 13th December to have all the packing removed and not looking forward to this. This was my first operation (hopefully my last) so don't really know what to expect. My operation was on the 22nd November and 10 days on I'm still feeling really dizzy and having pain that feels like a migraine down the one side of my face? I have been to my gp and just as said the gp didnt know anything about this operation he said to me hes never seen anyone whos had the operation and doesnt know much about the condition-so not a lot of help. He did give me tablets for dizziness they are called prochlorperazine and didn't do anything for the dizzness they jsut made me feel very tired. So I suppose I'm just going to have to wait until I see the consultant on the 13th.Anyway thank you all once again for your advice.Leeah (uk)
