Guest guest
Well, please allow me to chime in on soil less growing. I'll NEVER do it again. For Microgreens I mean. I did an experiment with sunnies and pea shoots. The pea shoots are FINALLY shooting up. I am now watering them 2 times a day and placing in the sun and they are finally shooting up. But the sunnies did nothing. I did everything I was instructed to do (I watched videos on youtube on growing sunnies with no medium). The other day I gave up and transferred the bath to my coir and now (won't know for sure) but I hope they TAKE and will start shooting up soon. So to put it simply, in my case, for any future sunnies or pea shoots, I shall ALWAYS use either a Sure to Grow Mat or coir. Simple as that. Take care, Melody > > Sorry haven't figured out how to keep revalent & only cut parts using iPhone. Anyway, 2 things: > > 1. A few weeks ago was watching Ray & I believe it was nutritionist from Biggest Loser (def a nutritionist). Anyway I thought I heard her say that 1 tbsp of broccoli sprouts has more nutrition, etc than eating 1 head of broccoli. Now if I can find a way to sneak it into hubby salad. He has asked me to stop putting sprouts in our " general salad mix " > > 2. I know eons ago I posted about is it okay to do sunnies & even peas hydroponic (my materials have yes). I just don't have room in kitchen for them the other way though I keep looking at laundry room as an alternative. I even sent MSG to handypantry.com (which also complained about condition of 5lb can I received from them with no response so might move all orders to sproutpeople.org). > > I think since I have to order more broccoli sprouts I'm going to give it a try. Guest guest
Ok, Debbie, today your post gets to be the focus of my wrath at unspecified terms. What specifically are you proposing to do that is in anyway different from what Melody is doing? Run us all through how you would be growing hydroponic peas and sunnies. What Melody does is she uses a neutral medium, S-T-G or coir, adds seeds and water and ends up with pea shoots and sunflower shoots. What Melody does is by most definitions of the term hydroponic. If you're thinking of growing in only water, that can be done, in fact most of the automated sprouters use a similar method by frequently spraying the sprouts. There is another type of hydroponic growing that utilizes a lot of chemical inputs, this is something I advise people to stay away from. Lee > 2. Guest guest
Debbie, As the old times in this group know, it took me several years to get my wife to finally eat sprouts. Now she won't have a sandwich or salad without them. The only meal she cooks is breakfast and she has started putting sprouts on our eggs. The sprouts that did the job was French Garden mix from Sprout People. Try a mix. Mixes seem to have a sweeter taste than just one variety. Get him to taste them. And keep telling him how good they are for him. ew Sunnies & Broccoli sprouts Sorry haven't figured out how to keep revalent & only cut parts using iPhone. Anyway, 2 things: 1.
