Guest guest
Thanks, Barb for confirming that. I called the futon shop and they were helpful. Suggested I not use the recycled or cheaper futon mattresses if I have sensitivities. They can make the others without boric acid with a script which I hope to get this week and will help me pick out the cheapest of the organics that fits our needs. I am using futons for beds and for the fam room.. where I often end up crashing. It would be nice to get bedding settled before we go. This is a lot of brain numbing work. Tryng to get as pure bedding as possible on a budget thinking thats where we stick our noses for 8 hours a night. the one dining room table and chairs... and a futon for the fam room. Can fill in the rest and thinking not much more later. Want to get the air filters going as well before we get there. The AA is the best value.. not super best with VOCs but decent. This is so stressful. Robin > > I am trying to find cheap pieces of furniture to use at new location. There are " dorm Specials " at the futon shop... the futon mattresses aremade of recycled cotton and soy foam. I think the soy source is OK and dont think it is replacing all petros, but they claim offgassing is reduced 50%. This would be used as a sofa. > > The organic mattresses are expensive though less expensive that traditional organic mattresses.. > > Im concerned about getting used furniture from a used furniture place. > > I am concerned about the soy foam and the recycled cotton.. specifically if the recyled cotton is clean or uncontaminated? How woold you know? From what I have seen, so many houses are not healthy and you have no idea where they have been. Guest guest
I wouldn't do it. My couch in storage is a futon frame. I either put a WELL OFFGASSED air mattress on it or piles of blankets that could be washed separately. There's always that cotton batting they sell to make comfortors too. You could outgas it, wash it etc...makes a decent washable pillow too. > > I am trying to find cheap pieces of furniture to use at new location.
