(AP) — The Blackfeet Tribal Court has ruled the tribe's housing authority is responsible for repairing or replacing homes contaminated with black mold. Last Friday's ruling comes eight years after homeowners filed suit against the authority and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The housing authority built the homes with federal money. Lead plaintiff Marceau tells the Great Falls Tribune he was ecstatic when he learned of the ruling. In May 2009, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear the case, closing one route to restitution for those who said their homes were making them sick. About 150 homes built using arsenic-treated wood foundations are still being used and the tribal court gave the seven original plaintiffs time to add additional parties to the case. ___ Information from: Great Falls Tribune, http://www.greatfallstribune.com
