Welcome! So glad you found us. I am mom to four kids. Amy is 24. Kelsey is 21. Davey and Will turned 12 last month. Davey has DS. We live in Northern California. This is a great group of parents. We have all been there done that. Please ask questions. And yes, we all love photos! Love life and be gentle,

Hello everyone!! I have 8 month old boy/girl twins :) Bella and Logan(DS). I also have on older boy, Jack, who will be three April 7th.

My pregnancy went very well and they had to induce me at 38 weeks. My babies just didn't want to come out yet :) Although the morning I was scheduled to be induced I started having contractions, so I guess maybe they were ready. Everything went well and they were delivered naturally. The only odd thing was they were both face up coming out...

I was able to hold each for just a minute before they were cleaned up. I noticed that Logan's eyes looked "a little funny", but didn't think too much of it. It wasn't until about 2 hours later that the pediatition came in and said they "had some concerns about Logan". I had absolutly no idea he had Down Syndrome. My husband told me he knew right when he was born that he had DS, but didn't tell me for some reason. He ws very upset! I have only seen him cry twice in the 10 years we'd been together and this was one of those times :( After the doctor told us, I was in shock and just stared at him for a long time. I didn't know what that meant exactly. I knew very little about DS and had never met or spoken to anyone who had it. There were never any children in my schools with DS. It was a long 2 days in the hospital having to tell everyone that came to visit that he had Down Syndrome and having to listen to everyone tell me that I "was chosen to be his mom because I could handle it". I cried everytime I had to tell someone. I just didn't want people to feel sorry for me. I still think some people feel that way, but I don't. I do think I am very lucky to have him!

When I was in the hospital the genetics doctor told us that Bella would do everything 1st and probably wonder why her brother couldn't keep up. Well, I have learned not to listen to anyone when it comes to what Logan can and can't do because he rolled over first, and not just by a few days, by 3 months!! He was rolling all over the house while Bella just layed there on her back. She did sit 1st, he can do it now, but uses his arms to hold himself up. They are both neck and neck on the crawling. Both get up on hands and knees and rock. Sometimes hey go backwards a little. I am just so impressed at how well he is doing. I am excited to tell his physical therapist on Wednesday. We only have PT once a month and this will be our 4th visit with her.

I will attempt to post a picture of my babies :)

I love the pictures of your kids (and the other new ones posted too!). Welcome to our group! You are exactly right to not listen to predictions of what Logan will or won't do and on what time table. My , now 12, reached some motor milestones behind her twin, but she's now taking piano lessons and studying for a quiz on Ancient China! No one would have predicted that, if I had bothered to listen to them!Keep posting, reading, asking questions and loving those sweet babies!
