Guest guest
AN, I'd like to repond to this statement by you: 'As for this, " And I won't support anyone who does " --that's not really necessary, in my case. What a spot of bother over what people are AFRAID of.' You know you aren't to be feared but there are MANY excellent reasons some on this group would be afraid. Including me. 1. This group has been taken advantage of multiple times over the years. 2. Not long ago someone was re-posting some of our messages on their web site as if it were their own. There was no permission and no notice. It was slowly and accidently discovered. 3. We recently had " scott " (not Armour) come on and start making accusations and offending some of us. 4. About a year ago someone named totally disrupted the group with outrageous claims of harm and threats of legal actions and that he was dying. He took no advise, contributed nothing, and ignored all the efforts to help and comfort him. After he left here he ran the same routine on some other groups. 5. Most phishing expeditions for products are caught early but a few get through, creating doubt on what little hard science there is because of their " snake oil " claims. 6. I've had my postings on this and other groups entered into evidence at depositions. 7. I've had my written statements in Indoor Environment Connections, my book, other publications, and presentations at conferences thrown back at me in a variety of ways including in the court room. 8. Some on this group have shared intensely personal details about their bodies and their lives. That type of detail is often critical to understanding what they are experiencing and receiving appropriate suggestions. ANYTHING which puts a chill on that level of participation is detrimental to the group. I've unintentionally done that at times. And have apologized. 9. Occasionally someone begins posting on how a specific treatment is the only way to heal and if we don't follow it we are responsible (guilty) for our own suffering. This is particularly troublesome when the remedy is religious in nature. It can be a form of abuse. 10. Finally, this hasn't happened in a few years but we - and other groups - used to be hit with what sounded like a legitimate, caring, loving creation of a non-profit to help those most victimized. All but a couple were legit. And it wasn't found out until some members sent hard earned money which they couldn't really afford because they wanted to help. My intention with you is not to discourage you from participating or from writing your book. But to help you understand that the concern and fears expressed here are legitimate and have been thoughtful. BTW, I understand you are experienced at writing and marketing. But there is always something to be learned and the market keeps changing, as does the technology. I'm always asking others if there is something new they know. That's what I'm willing to share with you. Carl Grimes Healthy Habitats LLC ----- Carl, Exactly, almost. Since I've published and marketed books, that's not really what I asked you for. A technical review and clarification of technical aspects that still remain a mystery are what I asked for. Since a writer's research is based on credible sources, which means scientific research, expert interviews, etc., that's of course what I mean when I said, " I've begun work on the research portion, reading and taking notes to fill in what I don't know. " If Carl isn't comfortable answering questions, that's okay, too, as I've asked Armour to talk with me on the phone, and he agreed. Of course, I may not even need to talk to you, Carl. I'm still reading about the technical concepts. As I did tell you, though, the technical aspect is a small part of it. As for this, " And I won't support anyone who does " --that's not really necessary, in my case. What a spot of bother over what people are AFRAID of. As I have said five million times, I volunteered a statement last month, when I first posted to the group about my book, and first asked you, Carl, about answering questions and reviewing technical information. I said: " This list has been a refuge; I have no intention of violating it. " Though what this is actually feeling like is less a refuge and more paintball, with me an arbitrary target. This ALL should be handled off-list. From: Carl E.
