Guest guest
I just heard on the radio that Marvel Comics created a super hero with hearing aids after a mother wrote saying her child who requires hearing aids said he wouldn't wear them b/c no super heros wear hearing aids. So they responded by creating one for her/her son. Perhaps this would help with your son too???? My 4-year-old with Ds has been wearing hearing aids since he was 17 months old. He has a mild to moderate hearing loss and they will supposedly help him with speech development (which has been slow going). His wearing of the aids is sporadic at best. He wears them consistently at school, which is five mornings a week. At home, he fights them. He’ll keep them in to watch a tv show, or other things like that that we “make†him wear them for, but pulls them out the second the activity is finished. We go next week for a follow up eye appt and he is most likely now also going to need glasses! I am dreading this. It’s been 2.5 years with the hearing aids and we’re not where we need to be, and now we’re going to add glasses?! Does anyone else have a child with both? Any tips on keeping them both on? Or did anyone else struggle with it at a young age before the child agreed to keep both on? Thank you! Guest guest
My son has hearing aids also and refuses to wear them at home, but he does wear them all day at school. I'm afraid to try too hard at home, because I don't want to lose them - $2,000 to replace! He yanks them out of his ears and throw them. I'll be interested in seeing the answers.
