,

We began an intermitent Azithr routine for strep and saw no decline in titers

after many months. One doc had said treat and another said no, the high titers

were just a good immune response and did not mean any current trouble. Family

history of rheumatic fever and OCD w strep so I really pushed for continuing

treatment. We upped the dose to 500mg/day for a 120# young adult and weeded out

all the 'hidden' strep - probiotic strains and nystatin. We also had it

compounded to avoid all the dyes and yuck. Titers came down. Currently, she's

been off the Azithr for ~ 4mos. Titers done in Dec remain nl range. It took 3+

years to accomplish this.

days on and 2 days off Aziythromycin for 12 weeks. Just got the blood results

back and two of the boys levels are unchanged but 's has doubled to 800!

The antibiotics are fairly hefty ones and very expensive.

> Dr Goyal at Breakspears is treating all the boys so I will have to try and get

a phone appointment to speak to him but would like to know if anyone else is

doing this first. Don't want to just keep feeding antibiotics or get talked into

having their tonsils removed if it doesn't make a difference.
