hi,

i am new here. my almost 2 yr old has been suffering his whole life from all

these weird illnesses -- sensitivity to foods he is not allergic to, wheat and

dairy chief among them, reflux, leaky gut, total inability to sleep even if i

hold him all night long, frequent colds, pulling at his nose esp in the middle

of the night, headaches, photosensitivity, and then culminating in an

encephalitic reaction to his 15 month DTAP shot. all that said, he is overall a

normal happy healthy kid if that makes any sense. we knew he was not autistic

but suddenly post shot, within hours he became autistic. no affect whatsoever

although he didn't lose " skills " . it took 2 months to regain his eye contact, 4

to regain name recognition and 6 to regain affection. we have been gluten free

and dairy free and soy free and largely corn free for about 7 months now. we

have been pursuing alternative autism treatments (yasko supplements and other

nutritional supports) this whole time. meanwhile about 2 wks ago i learn our

house has mold. and suddenly it all makes sense to me. i think this is what has

been going on this whole time. i think the molds predisposed him to have the

response he did to his vaccine. now i am thinking we need to switch gears here

as my child is clearly not autistic at this point but still suffers from the

headaches, and mild photosensitivity and the inability to sleep. the gut seems

to have gotten better per the igg results we just received. i am so blessed to

find this group as i have a whole host of very pressing questions. anyone who

has even one answer for me, please chime in. THANK YOU.

btw, so far the air test came back with a 2200 count of pen asp in his room as

opposed to 710 outside. it was a nonviable sample. and the only one we took

from his room. now we must take others as we have discovered visible mold in the

crawl space which is where our hvac systems are. so now we must retest and

remediate and also find a doctor who knows this stuff.

1. we have a phone appt set with dr. johannings in NY (we live in california).

is he really as good as i have heard? is there someone else we should see

instead? is there anyone with pediatric specialty in this? my ideal would be a

well informed pediatric fungal doc with tons of experience who uses both

alternative and traditional methods to heal.

2. we have an austin air filter. is the IQ one better?? i have heard arguments

for both.

3. must we really walk away from our home naked?? is it possible we can just

remediate? does that work for some people? how will we know?

4. i have been interviewing so many mold experts and have yet to pick one as i

am not sure what route to go. in terms of testers, do i go with the canines? do

i do viable? non viable? petri? surface wipes?? at this point i am probably

leaning towards a VERY experienced CERTIFIED guy named jack clausen

http://www.jlcinspections.com/ but what i need to know is: what exact kind of

testing do i do? do i test for the mycotoxins or not? will it change how we

proceed? does our doc need specific tests or does the specificity of how we test

the home not relate? do i do surface wipes? petri? i ask bc i recall one time a

year ago i left a glass of water with a straw in it in our bedroom. within 3 or

4 days the straw was covered in mold. i found that odd but did not at the time

realize what exactly that meant.

5. does anyone know of any connection between mold and antimony? my son has very

high antimony exposure and we cannot figure out how. i think there must be a

connection.

6. has anyone ever heard of dr. dan harper out in san diego? anyone worked with

him?

7. i posted separately about this but am wondering on the remediation front,

does anyone know anything about freeze blasting mold? seems promising and the

guy is coming tomorrow to give us a bid but i am wondering how real life

effective this is. freezeblast.com

8. if the mold is in our crawl space and affecting our hvac system then do we

get the ducts cleaned, or do we HAVE to replace them?

9. is the inability to sleep part of all this? anyone else experience this?

10. lastly, can anyone tell me this all going to be ok. like, you were here and

then remediated and your kid got better? i need some hope.

thanks so much,

abigail
