Hi All,I've been wanting to find GOOD autism spectrum disorders information (on the Internet is fine) that is translated in Spanish. My mother's native language is Spanish & I think if I could give her some pamphlets or articles that discuss what autism is, etc that she'd have a much better understanding. Plus-I haven't told any family members living in Mexico about my son's recent formal diagnosis because I just don't have the technical jargon in Spanish to express what I want to tell them. I'm sure my grandma won't really understand it-she's 84 & grew up in a different era & country but i want to try to the best of my ability. My aunts, uncles & cousins would probably understand it more if presented concisely & accurately. Perhaps if I explain it first to my uncle who's a teacher-he could help my grandma understand it in simpler terms. I do want to share this with my extended family because I'm close to them although I don't see them often-it's been 4.5 years since I've visited. I do Facebook with my cousins & some aunts & uncles. I also call my grandma & other family members over there. It's something I want to share. I do realize that some won't "get it" or they'll jump to a different conclusion. Anyway-if any of you know a site or organization I can call to get info in Spanish thats informative & decent-I'll greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!Gladys

While this article is somewhat off-topic for this list, it addresses an issue that I believe is common to so many of us. It's very well written and I believe, gives advice and information that is right on the mark!"A grandchild with special needs will change your life — but it’s up to you to determine if it will be a negative change or a positive one," explains Jodi Webb in this helpful and informative article.http://autismbeacon.com/topics/headline/a_different_kind_of_grandparenting
