Guest guest
Perfect! Remember to put a drop of dish soap or liquid soap in their too, which coats their wings and keeps them from flying out, otherwise, they could just drink it and go, lol. I make these traps by inverting the cut off tops of two liter soda bottles into the body-we don't drink soda in our house, so I get a friend to save them for me-work great as wasp traps outside too. I NEED wasps, bees, etc. in my gardens, but this keeps them from nesting around my doors, under the eaves, etc. > > Haven't seen any more gnats but I'm glad I did SOMETHING. > > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFHGPftmcOs > > And thanks to all who told me how to do this. > > Melody >
Guest guest
I did it right?? Hallelulah!! And I did put the soap detergent (a few drops) in each cup. I just watched youtube videos and they say to use glass jars. But I don't care. I will use whatever is available. You should have seen me chasing the darn gnat around with my little funnel thing. I finally started laughing at myself and said " Puleeeze, it's a stupid gnat, not the end of the world " lol Thanks much Melody
Guest guest
LOL, too funny. I cant imagine why the suggest glass jars for catching bugs-that is the ONE time I am happy to use plastic or styrofoam, lol. It amazes me when I see 15 or 20 wasps caught in one of my traps in a days time! Being plastic, I can just throw the whole thing away and start new-I do NOT want to be fishing dead wasps out and cleaning it, thank you very much! lol > > I did it right?? Hallelulah!! Guest guest
Oh, there's a guy on youtube named and he took a small mason jar, put some banana skins down on the bottom, took saran wrap, covered the whole thing. Secured saran rap with rubber bands. Then he took some hole poking device and poked holes in the top of the saran wrap. WEll!!! you should have seen the fruit flies he caught. OMG!!! lol Melody > > > > I did it right?? Hallelulah!! And I did put the soap detergent (a few drops) in each cup. I just watched youtube videos and they say to use glass jars. But I don't care. Guest guest
Which is the purpose of the dish detergent-they can't fly once their wings are coated with it, lol. > > > > > > I did it right??
