Guest guest
The juice of wheat grass is usually taken as a separate liquid. (see youtube wheatgrass) I take one ounce at a time, alone or mixed with water. The first time I had a 'shot' of wheat grass, I got a bit dizzy. The gal from Healthy Juicer suggested it was because was because I was probably somewhat dyhydrated and that wheat grass juice lowers blood pressure, ( http://www.hippocratesinst.org/benefits-of-wheatgrass) so mix it with water for a while. Some folks might add it to a blender drink or with a vegetable such as cucumnber, but I tend to keep something I am taking for medicinal purposes separate from the food I eat. Just my preference. I do not sugggest eating the grass as it is not easily digestible and the benefits are in the juice, rather than the roughage. Youtube has many videos on how to grow and process wheat grass. As a side note, the sprouted wheat berries, only buy organic, can be sprouted to the little root stage and used to make bread, the the leaf stage is best left for juicing, according to what I have seen. Others may have found a way to use a Blendex or Vitamix to get the juice, but a juicer, even the manual Healthy Juicer (about 50 US dollars) does a better job of extracting the juice and is much easier to use as it has fewer steps to take to get the juice. Hope this helps. Still hoping for some advise on whether folks like baby blanket or STP mats not only for growing wheatgrass, but for recycling also. The wheat grass seems to be lowering my blood pressure and stabilizing my blood sugar so I want to increase the yield to 1-2 ounces a day. We did this before, but only had the manual Healthy juicer and it took a very long time to juice a 10-20 tray. > > I have used organic soil and baby blanket for years, but not the STG mats. > > Has anyone here used all three, soil, baby blanket and STG mats and settled on their favorite? But I am willing to give the STG mats a try if I can use them in the same way. The baby blanket breaks down eventually. Do the STG mats do this? > > If so, for what reason did you choose the one you chose. > > I will get all the supplies thru sproutpeople.org. I know there are cheaper sources for some things, but it is my way of saying thank you to Gil and Lori for their seed quality and all their hard work on their website and service to the sprouting community. His detailed instructions have really helped me and I can't beat the variety of organic seeds. > > Thanks for any replies. > > Happily Sprouting > Diane > > > > >
