Guest guest
Melody, I enjoyed your growing station and it is growing, both the station and the greens. It looks great. I have my things in and can begtin, but it is rather warm in our sunroom. I can " plant " them in here and take them out there I guess. I have just been tired the last few days. Just found that my vitamin B12 goes right through my system without dissolving. Yuch. Think I'll eat some light soup for the next couple of days.  Did see something interesting in the Urban Farm mag. Actually saw lots of interesting things, but one I wanted to mention. There is a 2012 Urban Agriculture Summit in Toronto, Canada August 15-18 for anyone near there. It is listed on age 10 of the mag. www.urbanagsummit.org to check it out. Cover sustainable methods of food production from farm to table. There will be a vertical farming expert there and many other presenters including a restauranteer from Toronto. Lightfood, CEO of BrightFarms recently announced plans to build the world's largest rooftop farm in Brooklyn. NY.   I don't know if he is talking of the restaurant in NY (was that Brooklyn?) that we saw on YouTube.  There is also a school in LA that had a cafeteria with a raw food bar and they were helped by local farmers and the school funds. The school did away with the lunch program to hire another teacher. But they have worked to get the use of a hill next to the school and it is terraced with plants on each level and they go up the hill as they have money to do it. They have students and other volunteers to help.   They are working on putting in an orchard so they can get back to the system they had before with the fruit and salad bar. I hope they have thought of sprouts as they would be easy to grow and could be don in the the ? biology lab? www.laleadership.org  That was it. I thought it exciting and nteresting.         Carolyn Wilkerson  > > You'll see what I mean. I just made this video to show you what I'm growing. I put up a sign that says GERMINATION STATION. > > Why did I do that? Because I was putting all the trays that were germinating (stacked on each other), on the bottom shelves. I then promptly forgot they were there. Instead of germinating for 3 days, I remembered they were there and thankfully they just grew (baby blanket). I didn't lose anything. In fact you can see the sunnies and pea shoots that germinated in the dark (with no added water) for approx 5 days). I don't want to be forgetting what I'm germinating so I now will use the top left of my shelves (the sign will remind me) and that will be that. lol > > Here you go > > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIBldB7ZbiY > > Melody >

I've saved THEM ALL!!! They are perfect for the flax and chia because they come with their own lids. Now I need some help. On the left I have the name GERMINATION STATION. I need a name for the right. The right shelves are where I do the greening up. So I need a saying ...something that rhymes with microgreening or microgreening or SOMETHING. If I have GERMINATION STATION on the left, I have to have something cool on the right. lol Melody > > > > You'll see what I mean. I just made this video to show you what I'm growing. Guest guest
Isn't it all a germination station? Maybe you need to put it across the top of both of them. They used to have printers - the old pin ones and the paper was on a pull through system and you could do the neatest banners.  I did that quite often and it was neat. We sort of lost that ability with the new printers. I lost my old pin printer too. Had to wait a long time for it to send those little 10 pins through he ink nd into the paper.  and to go down the page and the rackety tackety tat of the pins. Remember those? That is what you need. Know anyone who is into antique computers? They would make neat banners. I had to put my 2 shelving units on each side of the air conditioner which is near the base of the wall. I couldn't put side by side. They do hae windows behind them and a tiny bit of wall on the outside.   Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Monday, June 11, 2012 10:38 PM Subject: Re: I made a Germination Station  > > > > Green Scene > > > > -------------------------------------------------- > > From: " Melody " <eliz7212@> > > Sent: Monday, June 11, 2012 8:41 PM > > To: <sproutpeople > > > Subject: Re: I made a Germination Station > > > > > > > > Nah!!!.
