Hi all. is it alright to use Rooibos tea for kombucha, mixing it with a black

or green tea? someone gave me a scoby, and had been using this mix, and it made

fantastic KT. ive done a few batches this way, my scobies would be very thick

and healthy with each brew. now it seems they have sloooooowed way down, and

its taking a long time to be able to get kombucha. ive got 1 jug, a 2 quart, i

had been brewing in, ready in 6 or 7 days, and now its been almost 2 weeks, not

ready yet, and the scoby is actually very thin. is the tea combo? or

something else? my water hasnt changed, i have a beautiful well. im using the

same sugar-an organic brown. any ideas?

Several months ago I decided to experiment with some Rooibos for making KT.

After more than a week nothing was happening so I added a small amount of KT

starter...things started shaping up from there. It formed a thin SCOBY, but the

tea stayed very sweet for several weeks. Personally, I wasn't crazy about the

final tea results and my SO, although he likes hot, brewed Rooibos tea wasn't

impressed, either.
