Guest guest
Lee and , At the same time, because of what was said, he investigated the seeds and found that some were more clean than others. Then he called the company to check it out and found out more about it and that some employees do sprout them. But he knows there may be some concerns and he wants to try. I think it is interesting as there may be a decent manufacturer out there. Their seeds are not degerminated which is good. So they will sprout. I don't know if they are the ugly sunflowers (mainly for oil production) or ones with pretty flowers) but might be really good for planting seeds outside. And might be worth it for him to try it. It probably isn't any worse than many of us are eating now. Which is better, those sunflower seeds or a chili hot dog? But he is thinking and he is looking at trying sprouting and especially with sunflower seeds. I think that he learned a great deal and did some research on his own to check it out. Good work to everyone all around.  Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sprout people <sproutpeople > Sent: Tuesday, March 27, 2012 7:58 PM Subject: Fw: -food police? was: I have a question about oil!!  Lee, well said. I agree. I like your mantra. Beverly Texas -food police? was: I have a question about oil!! , I realize that your personal medical problems motivate much of what you say. But since I see the main purpose of this group as encouraging people to begin sprouting and finding out how easy and beneficial it is for them. We should know that giving them everything we know, both good and bad, may just be too much too early. Like the gentleman who posted yesterday about sprouting sunflower seed packed for birds. I would have encouraged him to try it. My guess is that the production would not be that high, viability is not that important in bird feed. And if he got some shoots to taste and really loved them then he would become more likely to move in what some of us consider a better direction. I think that even sprouted bird seed is better quality than most of what is recognized as " food " in the S.A.D. My mantra is " Aways encourage sprouting - Be like Melody.
