Guest guest
Grapefruit seed extract and grape seed extract do two different things. Grapefruit seed extract acts as an antifungal, anti-microbial. http://www.nutriteam.com/gsewhat.html Grape seed extract is an antioxidant. http://www.rmbarry.com/research/grape_seed_extract.html Patty > > I've never used grape see extract . . . > > Maybe someone here has. > > Rogene >

Guest guest
Hi PH, Funny you should ask this question. I was just thinking about this yesterday morning. Let me answer you bluntly. YES! I think you can overdo the detoxing! I'm glad to hear you are feeling stronger and more centered. That's a good thing. I know the brain fog and weirdness in the eyes can be oh-so-frustrating, but I don't think you can force the healing to happen any faster than it can. Your body just needs time to heal. Sometimes all you can do is wait for it to catch up with your desires to be better. I am certain you are eating right and providing your body all the nutrients it needs, but detoxing can also use up the nutrients, enzymes, and anti-oxidants that you need to rebuild your body. Coffee enemas, for instance, should be followed by at least 3 glasses of juice before you attempt another one, or you can deplete nutrients. We know that the ionic foot baths must be followed by minerals, especially magnesium, or you can deplete nutrients. Even chelation therapy will remove not only the bad metals, but it can remove the good minerals we need too! That's why you make sure to add in the minerals on your days off. So, my suggestion is to relax a bit. Do your detoxing regularly, but let your body rebuild. Take it slow and don't be so anxious for healing that you push your body so hard it can't cope with all of the things being done to it. You're a health warrior, that I'm sure of! You're going to have a very healthy family, too, if they follow your lead! Just take time to enjoy life as well, and every now and then, you can cut loose and enjoy those treats that you are denying yourself now. Guest guest
Thanks for the advice Patty. I just want to heal so quickly like we all do. Last night I was reading through old posts by P and her enthusiasm for detoxing is so contagious. Given how much she's done, I sometimes wonder if I'm doing enough!! Well, for today I'll just do a sauna. I used to feel worse after them but now I feel better...subtle signs of healing...yeah!! I'm still awaiting Cutler's book Amalgam Illness so I don't know the answer to this...but I'm concerned about fungal infections increasing when you are chelating. Somewhere I read that and I was just wondering if you took any extra precaution by doubling up on probiotics or whatever. How long did you chelate? Thanks. Love, PH > > > > Hi Patty and Rogene, > > I'm wondering if it's possible to detox too much. Guest guest
Hi PH, I don't believe I did anything specific for fungal treatment during chelation therapy. My naturopath did not address it, and I can't remember if Andy Cutler's book did either. If he did, I must have forgotten. But my healing was all such confusion at that point. I didn't know what I was supposed to be doing...there were so many choices....I was blazing my own trail! I don't remember doing specific things for candida beyond the caprylic acid, grapefruit seed extract, and ozone therapy. I drank so much ozonated water that I depleted my Vitamin C stores. I remember waking up one day to find bruises all over my legs! A sure sign of vitamin C depletion. My poor adrenals! I stopped the ozonated water after that. Ah, hindsight. I was desperate, that is for sure. It can't hurt to attend to the fungal issues while chelating I suppose. Just take your caprylic acid, and I think it will make a difference, but ask Dr. Mercola's clinic about this, and let us know. Best wishes! Merry Christmas too! Guest guest
Hi Ph, I am on the candidia diet. It's pretty strict. It's very much like the maker's diet. I've been on it for two weeks now. It's tuff, especially when you go to a Christmas luncheon like I did last week, Ugh!! I am avoiding going out to eat all together. All I can have is a garden salad with lemon juice. I make a much better salad at home! Good Luck! I agree, I think you can detox too much at one time. My ND is having me take it slow, that's fine with me, it keeps my die to a minimum. I wanted to kiss him when he gave me tea tree oil for my skin itching. It works great! It really tones done itching and even takes it away. Glad to hear your feeling better! Have a Merry Christmas my dear! Guest guest
Wow, Patty. I feel for you, blazing your own trail. I really don't know where I'd be without this forum. How scary that must have been to wake up w/ bruises all over!...and all because you were drinking something you thought was beneficial to you. I drink Penta water which has medicinal grade oxygen in it. Is that the same as ozonated water? My uncle doesn't think I should be drinking the Penta, or that if I do, I should be rotating it with other waters. I don't know...when I look online some people say Penta is just hype but others say it acutally helps kill bad bacteria in the blood cells. I've also been wondering if I should drink mineral water although many of them contain fluoride. Eventually as I get better, I'll look into a water filter for the whole house or do some type of cooler. For now though it's all I can do to even remember to get my water intake. Merry Christmas to you too, Patty! Love, PH > > > > > > > > Hi Patty and Rogene, > > > > I'm wondering if it's possible to detox too much. Guest guest
PH, I don't think Penta will hurt you, but ozone has always bothered me. I just stay away from that. Including in air filters. Patty has been a trailblazer for sure. And this forum has been a life saver for many women. Lynda At 10:45 AM 12/22/2007, you wrote: >Wow, Patty. Guest guest
Hi Cherie, So glad the tea tree oil is working for you. I used to use it in college for breakouts. I loved the cool feeling it gives your skin. I feel for you with the Christmas luncheon! When I was working I was in the same boat. We'd have pharmaceutical reps coming in daily catering delicious food and my coworkers thought I was weird turning it down. I felt like an outcast! It's so hard as there aren't many options. I was at Whole Foods the other day wanting something from the hot bar, and even at Whole Foods I was so limited as there was either sugar, soy, wheat or eggs in almost all the entrees, side dishes, and soups! People just don't realize how tough it is. Yeah, it sounds like I need to back off the detoxing slightly and take it slow. Thanks for the advice! I need to keep reminding myself that Mercola even says that slow and steady wins the race. The candida diet and Maker's Diet are very similar if you still want to share recipes with us! I'm reading the Complete Candida Yeast Guidebook by Jeanne Marie and it has a lot of good recipes. I made a Mediterranean Chicken Stew the other night that my husband and one of our boys loved...it was easy too. Hope you have a Merry Christmas, Cherie! Guest guest
PH . . . I agree with Patty . . . We all want to be well NOW! . . . But our body doesn't work that fast. . . You're best to stay on a slow, steady course than to bounce all over the place trying this and that . . It is frustrating, but you're making progress. . . . As I see it, the main thing getting in your way is that you continue to stress over getting better. Stress can undo all the positive things we do . . . so, somehow, we have to learn how to do whatever mental gymnastics it takes to keep stress levels as low as possible.Merry Christmas!Rogene
Guest guest
Thanks for the advice Rogene. You're right about the stress. While nothing phases me anymore as far as other things are concerned, I am constantly wondering if I'm eating the right foods or detoxing the right way. Seems to consume the majority of my time and that's not good for healing! I need to replace it with a hobby! Believe me, I am getting used to the mental gymnastics. I was so anxious last night about the future and about my youngest son...he's complained three times the last two days about his legs falling alseep. It worries me because those were my first symptoms. Part of me wonders if he's just doing it because he's heard me talk about it. I really need to watch what I say about my symptoms. Yet, I worry that he also has candida as he's had thrush in the past and has eczema now. From birth he was in the NICU and on antibiotics. He takes probiotics and cod liver oil daily but his diet isn't as good as it can be. He's eating all healthy foods yet he's very limited because he's so picky. He has lots of food intolerances too. When he and I both went to a doc last year we had some test done to see how well our bodies detoxify. Mine was 75% but his was only 38%! I think 2008 is going to be the year our whole family gets into a good diet and overall health regimine. On a more positive note, thank you for all the help and encouragement you've given me this last year and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas! Guest guest
Hi PH, I would love to share recipes! I need to get that book your reading. I bought the Feast without Yeast but found that the recipes use honey. I can't have that. I would love you mediterranean chicken recipes, sounds yummy! I am already getting a little bored with mine. I do my beef stew and chicken soup in the crockpot, it makes it so easy! I found almond butter at my health food store that is nothing but almonds and has no sugar, it's great! Guest guest
Oh PH! You're - and all our other wonderful ladies, are welcome. Nothing thrills me more than seeing our ladies get their lives back! . . . I just wish it was faster! We're going to be leaving in the morning to spend the holidays with the family in the DFW area . . . Then we'll do a bit more traveling before heading home. . . Computer access will be spotty for a while . . . but I trust everyone here will be helping each other. . . I continue to be amazed at how much power women gain by working together. . . All too often women work against each other when there's much more to be gained by working together. Some of you have heard this true story before. . . A man, a scout leader (?), taught some boys a lesson. He had the boys arm wrestle with each other. Every time a boy took the other down, he got a nickle. . . The boys struggled and struggled . . . wearing themselves out and winning a few nickles. . . Then two boys figured it out. They took turns taking each other down. . . bang, bang, bang. .. By working together, with very little effort, they both got a pocket full of nickles. This group works much the same way . . . This group is not about "winning" it's about working together. The results are evident! Merry Christmas. Rogene Re: Detoxing Thanks for the advice Rogene. You're right about the stress. Guest guest
Ozone gave me brain fog, very excessive. And nauseated and feeling sick all over. I just have to stay away from that stuff. The HBOT is going slow, because my ears keep blocking. I have to have tubes put in my ears to do the treatment. Bummer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will basically have to start over when I get the tubes. Guest guest
Rogene, I won't have any air filter in the house that produces ozone. Bad for your health. I have the Whispure, no ozone. Guest guest
Whenever I've had lab work done (many years ago) my thyroid level came back > normal. Normal is relative. When they say normal it probably means you are in the lab range. More than likely your free T3 & Free T4 are at the low end of the range and this is not normal. If you add that with your symptoms of hypothyroid see www.stopthethyroidmadness.com for a list of symtpoms of low thyroid you will get a clinical dx of hypothyroidism. That is so very different from a Dr telling you that you are fine based on labs. Still I continue to run a low body temp and have always > wondered in the back of my mind if I might need something. Have you tried taking your basal temp? If it is lower than 97.6 odds are you have a thyroid issue. It should be taken the first 5 days of your cycle if still menstruating. What? I > wasn't sure, tho. Check out www.naturalthyroidchoices.com (my website) for thyroid supporting nutrients. Anyway, I started take 4 drops of lugol's iodine > first thing in the morning. It could cause a detox but odds are with one dose it is not probably. Some people may be psychologically prone to feeling something just through concern over taking it. I remember the same weird feeling the first time I took DMSA. I had read things to scare me. Some people do have an issue with liquid lugol's upsetting their stomach becuase it can be a bit harsh. That is why many take Iodoral (pill form of lugol's) instead. > > Also, is this stuff really dangerous if you don't truly need it?
