Guest guest
I'm trying to see how they differ from Coir in growing my micro-greens. These are supposed to be right out of the box, no mess, no nothing so if this is true, I'll give it a whirl. I bought them online so now I shall wait and you know I'll show all of you how it goes. lol Melody

Guest guest
It wasn't fine but was really fibers, long and wound around through there. it was like the bottom of baskets that keep the potting soil inside. I didn't look at it closely but the signs said coconut fiber. I am a neophyte here and have no real idea but it didn't look like the coconut fiber I had that one time before that came with the amarylis bulbs that were to be planted in the coconut fiber after it was soaked in water and swelled up but was still like little chips and was planted in it. Once we (I) can get started on sprouting and growing flowers and other things, they will make nice little gifts. I enjoy doing that to let people know I care about them and want to let them know that others do care. Some people are lonely. I live near a number of widows as this is a retirement community and with couples, the husband's often die first. Though there are some widowers here as well. Then we have the ones who travel here just for the season and during inclement weather elsewhere. When they go home, they dig up their flowers that won't last without good water and just throw them away.  They never ask anyone if they would like to have them. Seems such a shame. They could ask someone who does not do well, if they could plant in her yard or just offer them to others and they could plant them themselves. Our ground here is not hard to plant in as it has a great deal of sand. One woman here had some plants and brought some and planted for us near our solar lights that are by our walk. They are doing great and I think of her whenever I see them. She told us that ours are doing better than hers are now. We don't use organic fertilizer out there but we don't eat those either so maybe I should take some of our MG over to her. I'm watching church conference that is done twice a year and I am sitting here listening and loving everyone and feeling good about others. God bless you all. I do appreciate you for all you do to educate me. Thanks. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Sunday, April 1, 2012 9:33 AM Subject: Re: I just purchased some Sure to Grow Mats  If it is true coconut fiber, they will work fine, but if you mean " mats " like doormats, not so much, as they are likely synthetic and/or re enforced with other plastics or fibers. Some of the plant liners that they sell are synthetic too, so check the labels. > > > >  i DID see some coconut fiber mats at Home Depot. I wondered if one could grow in them. I can't fid the coir here >  > Carolyn Wilkerson > > >  > > > To: sproutpeople > Sent: Saturday, March 31, 2012 10:00 PM > Subject: I just purchased some Sure to Grow Mats > > >  > I'm trying to see how they differ from Coir in growing my micro-greens.
