They make money,either way, and there is no reliable replacement for Abbott as a "booster."A better route is to avoid other Abbott products, such as Centrum brand vitamins.The supposed rationale for this pricing was to pay for the development of Norvir capsules that don't require refrigeration. Of course, Kaletra appeared immediately with the new Norvir, but no plain Norvir has been produced. Abbott cooked up a cheesy story about manufacturing problems, but given the price advantage they gave themselves, I'm sure they are more than willing to live with a refrigeration advantage.
