Guest guest
When the leaves on the mung beans turn green they are going to be bitter. Everyone eats their sprouts at the stage that they like best so it is best to taste them frequently and determine what stage you like them at and if you like them big you might try keeping them in the dark. I personally only let them grow to less than one inch long, I think that at that stage they make a sweet and crunchy addition to my miso broth and other soups, far better tasting and more nutritious than any cracker. I'm sorry about people not trimming the posts. I don't think you are going to get any compliance here. Folks either refuse to do it or don't know how. So if I were you I would stay away from the digest format. Either get the individual email format or read the list on line. That's all the better I can suggest since this is an unmoderated list. My Alfalfa, Mung Beans and San Francisco Mix (bean mixture) are six days into sprouting. > > Tips on the white parts of the beans are starting to turn brown for some reason though the little green leaves just appeared. (I have been rinsing and shaking them dry every 12 hours as I was told so they shouldn't be dry-they are in mason jars with sprouting lids). > > Is it time to eat them (and store the rest in the fridge for how long?)After patiently Watching them grow for a week and I am ready to enjoy the " fruits " of my labor in a delicious salad tomorrow. > > New to list last week so I don't want to offend anyone, but noticed that a fair number of posts in every digest aren't being cropped so old messages are reappearing over and over at the end of new posts. Makes for a Lot of needless scrolling through redundant material when posters don't cut and paste. Otherwise I appreciate the interesting variety of subjects being discussed. > > Marilyn
