Guest guest
This is very interesting......I was just reading about the Gardasil vaccine and spinal cord pollutants. However, after reading this one....I wander if a girl was given this vaccine along with the Gardasil vaccine if they would react to someones body with adverse reactions. This vaccine is used to protect teens from Meningitis (spinal cord) if it was mixed with Gardasil would both mix together and react to the spinal cord or their other organs. appears safe? http://www.healio.com/pediatrics/vaccine-preventable-diseases/news/online/%7BB301377F-7533-4A85-9844-E17DA2EF5030%7D/Meningococcal-vaccine-appears-safe-when-administered-with-other-vaccines#perspective Meningococcal vaccine appears safe when administered with other vaccines
Guest guest
Dear Sheri Nakken, Thank you for posting this article. My attempted " quick " response (in 3 parts because of the limited space allowed for comments) was: Part1 Since: a) the most common serogroup/type for meningococcal meningitis in children in the USA is " B " and the vaccines provide no protection against it; only " 150 " clinical cases are diagnosed in the USA annually in a population of about 4,200,000 children under 1 year of age; c) the vaccine is not >95% effective for any of the other " strains " (A, C, Y, W-135) that are " common " in the USA; d) there is NO proof that any level of antibodies is EFFECTIVE in preventing those who are exposed from contracting " meningitis " ; e) the protection, if any, provided does not last for a " lifetime " or even 10 years, and, at any given time 10 to 15 % of the population is " carrying " one or more strains of N. meningitidis in their nasal mucosa without being infected: 1. The use of this vaccine is NOT, CANNOT be, effective in preventing those vaccinated with it from getting " meningococcal m[e]ningitis " , AND 2. The mass use of this vaccine is NOT cost effective. Part2 Since more than " 50% " of the cases in children under 1 year of age are the " B " serotype, less than 75 children in a population of 4.2 million babies POTENTIALLY be protected. Since the vaccine is not nearly 100% protective for any of the covered strains and there are other strains, besides " B " that are known to infect humans, probably < 40 children under the age of 1 year MIGHT be somewhat protected from having meningitis. Presu[m]ing that about " 80% " of children get both doses or 6.72 million doses at a cost of $ 82.12 or 109.66 per dose (from 3 Aug 2012 CDC price list), an " administration cost of $50.00 per dose, and 50% at the CDC price, the average annual cost of adding this vaccine to the US healthcare system would be about $ 980.38 million dollars. Presuming that it would stop 40 cases and that " 10% " of the cases would die, we would still have 110 cases a year with 11 deaths; the cost to prevent 1 case would be $24.5 million dollars, and the cost to prevent 1 death would be about $245 million. Part3 Clearly, the deployment of this vaccine in young children is not cost effective EXCEPT to Sanofi Past[eu]r (from its increased Menactra® sales and, based on its like studies, Novartis from its similar sales of its mystery-composition MenVeo® vaccine) who would profit from selling more doses. Finally, the title's claim " appears to be safe " is NO MORE VALID THAN the " safety " studies used to claim safety for the individual vaccines that do NOT use a true placebo (sterile pH-balanced saline with or without glucose at the actives' level) and NOTHING else for the " control " arm in ALL safety studies! Finally, I would like to thank Dr. Block for disclosing his conflicts of interest and for presenting a relatively thorough review of the disease realities surrounding meningococcal disease caused by N. meningitidis in the USA. Hopefully, some may benefit from the information in this comment.
