Hi, Txbluebelle!

I've emailed Dr. Phil several times regarding my situation with

flatback and the weight loss thing he's been doing the last 2 years.

I never heard back. I got explicit about my limitations regarding

pain and the condition of flatback. Maybe if other people email him

too, they'll see a trend. (BTW - lost 22 lbs in the last 14 months -

slow but completely off. And stayed true to what my body can handle!)

I don't know if my doc of many years would ever speak to me again!

She knows a clinical psychologist who got so angry and outraged

about Dr. Phil's allegedly insensitive approach to very young girls

engaged in frequent and/or casual fellatio -- Dr. Phil reportedly

emphasized the slut-reputation-factor, rather than dealing with the

obvious self-esteem problem in a compassionate way -- that this guy,

the psychologist, did a whole research project to dig up the whole

truth of Dr. Phil's biography, psych. credentials, etc. Since I have

not done any such digging myself, I will just say that I am not

entirely certain about enlisting him in the cause, just on the basis

of this information I received -- which was admittedly hearsay (and

thirdhand hearsay at that).

If you do decide to approach him, I WILL say I would consider him a

more agreeable/reputable contact than, say, " Dr. " ! And he

might be a very good bet from a publicist's/marketing person's

perspective.

I dunno, is there anyone else we should consider? Yes, we all love

Oprah, but what about other TV people? (No, not other talk show

hosts per se -- she is definitely the one, or one of the few, class

acts in that department.) But are there other places we should try,

some cable venues, maybe? Lately I am very partial to the BBC News,

although I do not know if they have any crack medical reporters

since I just became a regular viewer recently . . . .

LOL!!! that sounds fabulous pink!!

id put kathy down for high-rep/low weight training (ala slim series) and

kassia down for heavy weight training (ala cathe friedrich). and paul can

do the advanced kickboxing section that i can do. im not sure who to put

down for step class -- maybe we can get a celebrity instructor for that

part, unless paula would like to take it on.

good plan!!! now, who have we left out??

I was going to do ck with Caroyln, but I'm flexible! I can do what nobody else wants! I know! I'll do step! Time to dig out that Step it Off! dvd. I promise I'll do it at a lower bpm so that we'll be able to get it!

I must have somehow missed the first email. (I just love )

You all do realize that my gym is pretty small, right? It's only

1300 square feet. Think Curves with resistance and a few extras,

and you have Why Weight? We'd have to move all the equipment to the

back so we'd have room for our group to all workout. (I have to

limit my classes in the middle of the equipment to 10 people.)

But....I can book the tv studio! Everyone bring your own step!

Helen,

I hope you can make it but remember you are looking at about 30 hours of just

driving time.It is an awesome experiance that your whole family will cherish

forever.

Having a car there is most imperitave and a great idea.Food was absolutely

outrageous at the resort in SanDiego and the only thing around were more

hotels. There was a mall within walking distance that had a food court but I am

sure

the fast food there was still pricy. We were so lucky to get a full scholorship

last year worth around $3000 and it was only for 3 .We had to pay for Shelby

but luckily our family paid her way.

On a good note RI is so tiny that you should be able to find a hotel in

another city or state, lol within reasonable driving distance.

I hope you can find a way to go.It's just a shame they don't have the money

for regionals anymore.

Love and hugs

Wow Helen. If you want to take that on - go for it! We would consider it,

but we will have a less than a month old baby this time with us and I don't

think we could do it!

Crazy Idea

As I sit here trying to plan the trip to RI, I just had a great

idea... Im thinking of driving to RI, its only 1500 miles, I thought

it was a lot more. I would leave MN on Tuesday and arrive in

Providence on wednesday night, then leave on sunday for home. This way

I could bring more kids and it would be more cost effective for me.

This way I would have a vehicle there and I could stay at a cheaper

hotel/motel further way from the convention center..

Something to mull over.....

-heck, I would take it on.. a few years back I drove to TX on my own

with 3 of the kids. I love long distance driving. I LOVE seeing

different parts of the US. Plus, it saves me from flying which I

HATE!!

Its really looking like we might be coming..:o))))))))) I will bring

Nick and and Hubby is thinking of taking the 3 older boys on a

fishing trip.We have a banked week though our timeshare that we need

to use up this summer. So they might go off on their adventure and

me and the little kids will leave on ours. Our van is big enough

that Nick can get comfortable and there will be plenty for him to

do. TV.DVDs gamecube, gameboy etc.

Im excited!!!

It is not a crazy idea, it is a good idea. And it is worth a try.

However, for me, I chose not to go that route after reading a letter Doe sent me from a farmer (search archives for the keyword "farmer").

After I replace the outside wood that got moldy from splashback I'll be putting

metal around the bottom of the house. If I won lotto things would be different.

I'm seriously considering no insulation - maybe real thick plywood walls. I have

wood heat (not the healthiest but dry & most affordable) & really struggled to

keep it going with how low I needed to turn it down for 2 rooms so freezing

would probably not be an issue once I open up that side of the house after it's

done. Have long johns & down too :-). Would no insulation contribute to mold in

the walls or be more along the lines of having enough air space for condensation

to evaporate?
