sanitizing contaminated duct work

Hello All,

Can anyone comment on pros and cons of the two products being

recommended to us for " sanitizing " the duct work in our HVAC system?>

1) sporicidin

2) Oxine (Bio-cide International, Inc. E.P.A. Reg. No.

9804-1 www.bio-cide.com)

Testing discovered gram negative bacteria that are long living in the

duct work and we are told that in order to get a " clean bill of health "

we need to sanitize the system. We will not be returning to live in the

house, but I do not want to inflict poisonous chemicals on tenants.

Please comment on these products or others that might do the job and be

safer. I can forward the testing report to any of you who are

specialists so you can see the problems but my understanding is that the

bacteria found in the HVAC ductwork that needs to be " sanitized " is:

salmonella, not long lived once source is eliminated

citrobacter amalonaticus, this is the long lived one I believe.

Also, someone else told me about a product that is supposed to be

nontoxic, strong as bleach, would this product be sufficient? Benefect

Thanks, Sue V.
