My thought is that if we want DS-Autism to become a household name then we need to promote it more. If each state would hold their own picnic and then maybe once a year have a DS-Autism conference that will change location yearly then we might get even more public support. I also remember how disappointed some people were last year when they couldn't make the picnic and I just think this way gives more people a chance to participate. Guest guest
I LOVE the idea of state picnics - or even regional one (like maybe tri-state for some of the little states. It would give me great pleasure to arrange hosting in North Georgia. Lots of campgrounds, B & B, even some ritzier places to stay. Whaat does the group think???. > I was just wondering if anyone thought about having state picnics for > DS-Autism all around about the same time so those who may not be able to > travel > cross country might be able to at least meet up with those in their own > state? > Someone could video each state's picnic and then put it all together and > make > one large video with all the states combined and that way even if a person > > could not go out of state they could still see the faces and hear the > voices > of those who they have been chatting with so long. Guest guest
Good idea! I could host Indiana. Beth DS-Autism picnics I was just wondering if anyone thought about having state picnics for DS-Autism all around about the same time so those who may not be able to travel cross country might be able to at least meet up with those in their own state? Someone could video each state's picnic and then put it all together and make one large video with all the states combined and that way even if a person could not go out of state they could still see the faces and hear the voices of those who they have been chatting with so long. If possible, each year a different person from different parts of each state might host so that also not just one area of the state is host to the picnics. Just my thought but I was also thinking it would be a good fundraiser as well at the buddy walks to sell the videos. As it is right now only a select few are able to participate and if it was expanded while I know not everyone would still be able to participate it would open the doors to more having the opportunity.
