Guest guest
<<Question: I'm thinking of crushing this in his morning cocktail (his little cup of yogurt that has his Synthroid and a Centrum vitamin crushed in it). Would this be a good dose to start with, just 1 x day? Any side effects I should look for? Will his bowels loosen more, less, no noticeable change? Does this help the yeast overgrowth?>> Jayne.....IF this is actually a bona fide live probiotic (and many commercial brands of them are not) you should begin slowly and gradually increase the dosage. You may see a negative reaction (Herkeimer reaction) as candida (yeast) is killed off it can make you feel drunk, sick, yukky for a few days or weeks till it is all gone. Many mistake this for the probiotic being " bad " thing...it's kind of like a healing crisis. it can be avoided if the probiotic is introduced slowly and gradually increased. This may help somewhat: http://pecanbread.com/new/probiotics1.html Unless you're buying a probiotic out of a refrigerated source it is most likely not a live bacteria and may do nothing at all. A good one should help with constipation, but not so much to cause diahrrea. Sherry
Guest guest
First of all, probiotics should help with yeat overgrowth. BUT with our children low and slow is the word. I would use 1/2 tablet crushed separately from Synthroid only because we do not want to distrub the Synthroid - actually I would rather see the vitamin and probiotic together and the Synthroid alone - maybe divide the yogurt???? That way you can be sure that the SYNTHROID - necessary for life functioning and the boosters would be searate. Hope this makes sense to you. > Hi guys, > New Year new hopes new plans! Guest guest
Sherry, Thank you. What I bought is a chewable, certainly not refigerated. Do you mean like the yogurts you see with probiotics in them? Or can you buy liquid, cold, probiotics? At a health food store probably? I think I'll try a half of one, 1 x day to start. How long before I up the dose? A week? Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. Guest guest
Thanks Sara, I appreciate your advice. I was thinking a 1/2 pill 1 x day but for how long do you think before I up it? Good idea to do the synthroid separate from the vitamin and probiotic, I'll try that tomorrow. Jayne Sara Cohen wrote: First of all, probiotics should help with yeat overgrowth. Guest guest
<<Or can you buy liquid, cold, probiotics? At a health food store probably? >> You can buy caps in the refrigerated department of the HFS...GNC didn't have a fridge for them? And no they don't make floaty things in 's juice....I just shake it up. Or I mix the powder with some pear sauce and have her eat it. it doesn't taste bad. They are living bacteria organisms that need to be kept alive by refrigeration. There are plenty out there that say they don't need to be refrigerated but they're usually not actual live organisms. They won't hurt but I doubt they'll do much good. Sherry
Guest guest
I been buying the BIO SALUDE it is a small bottle package of 5. It is a liquid drink, I just dump one a day in Dayton's juice in the morning. He never complained and sure got him on the right path with his bowels. Our GI tried us on Florastor?? OMG... That stuff was horrible. Loaded with sugar and built up bad yeast.. took me a month to get his gut back in order! Re: Introducing Probiotics Sherry, Thank you. Guest guest
I would increase dosaage the same way we introduce new food to an infant. Try a couple of days at the 1/2 tablet level, then move up to 3/4 (easiest way to do that is to cut a half in half.) Then after a week go to one tablet once a day, wait a week and then increase as the typical does is, I believe, 1 tablet twice a day. > Sherry, > Thank you.
