Guest guest
Like EW, I grow my own peas, and often have many varieties of peas for sprouting (I dehydrate mine during the season) Comventionally grown means they were not grown using organic methods, in other words would have pesticides, herbicides, etc. Unless an item is listed as organic, it would be considered conventional. > > > > Thats a good qestion. I grow my own peas. At the end of the season, I let the pods dry and then harvest the seeds. Because I grow several different kinds of peas, they cross breed and will not be true if you replant them, so I use them for sprouting. > > > > If I were to buy pea seeds to sprout, I would choose Oregon Sugar Pod. However, Sprout People has a mix that is quite good. > > > > Now here is a question for Melody. Mel, was it you or n that bought peas at the store and tried to sprout them. Guest guest
Melody I look forward to seeing your video about pop corn. And glad you liked the link! Love all the recipes everyone has been posting and all the very helpful replys to my and ' questions. Thank you so much everyone! I got a answer from one of the sprouting suppliers about the diff between organic and conventional and it seems conventional is the kind you get in seed packets for gardening. Just like said. Thanks everyone for the comments about the sunflower seeds from Walmart. Got the info we needed to make our decision. EW Thank you for the info about the melon sprouts and the tomato/ pepper/etc sprouts. Charlotte thank you for the links on pea sprouting and harvesting! Carolyn Wilkerson yes I did cook them after I sprouted them. I cooked them with Rice, However the rice wasnt sprouted. Although I am now in the process of trying to sprout some brown rice. Will see how it goes... We are not in the process of trying to sprout some carrots, cellary, beets, onion, brown rice, & forbidden rice . So far this is our 2nd attempt at the forbidden rice. not having much luck with it. I read all the info I could find on sprouting rice and how long to let it soak for but both attempts seem to be to long. The 1st time we let it soak for 8 hrs, this was WAY to long as they burst by the 1st rinse. This 2nd attempt seems to be to long as well 4 hrs. less then half had burst so we are still trying to see if some of it will sprout at least but not counting on it.. as each rinse comes it seems more hav burst so we may give up on this one being it is so expensive for the rice and We are happy with the way it tastes anyway and the health benefits it already provides. Was just hoping to get a bit more out of it. has a recipe he did with the forbidden rice and the rainbow mix we sprouted that is awesome!! IT is so nutty in flavor I cant stop easting it till its gone....
