OK this sounds like exactly the same thing as medwaiver in Florida (previously

based on katy beckett waiver). We didn't have it down here till was 11 and

we happened to get on the day before the enrollment closed. Now there are

thousands waiting in line. That was truly the arrival of the cavalry for

us...saved my butt. I'd get an advocate or anyone capable of helping to work

with you. We got the actual dx of autism right before she was accepted and it

moved her up the list past just " DS " kids...like the more disability we could

show the better.

Either or I would be in an institution by now if this hadn't come thru

then. Fight with all you've got!!!

I don't know, do you mean STOMP? Believe it or not, I'm the Parent Rep for

STOMP from Maine. I figure I'll see if my Case Worker writes back and then

email my STOMP contacts. I just can't believe this is happening. I feel like

sounding the whistle on all these people whose children don't have Ds, don't

want workers in their house, obviously not dealing with the same types of days I

have! UGH! RED TAPE BITES THE BIG ONE! LOL!

thanks,

J

Each branch of the service calls it something else. But STOMP is it. And

I would call the case manager ASAP. Also, your state representative.

Serving father, crazed mother, child who is being denied - you know the

lines to pull with politicos.

I'm about an hour from Portland, 10 minutes from Augusta (U of ME at Augusta)

Geez Sara - you have contacts all over!

What do you think the profs at U of Southern Maine could do? Anyone in

particular you know?

Thanks for racking your brain Sara - I appreciate it.

I will call St. Joes on Wednesday - I have to be in court all day tomorrow.

And find out the name of the prof I had from (sorry) U of Southern MAine -I

went to College at St Joes in Windham MAine and she taught a summer course

there.

This prof whose name of course I can't remember, was also on the state

committee for SSpec Ed. She striuck me as being a very knowledgeable person

and deliberately involved. - of course that was the summer I learned about

Elie's ASD!!!
