Guest guest
<<Ben turned 23 yesterday.>> Hi, Everyone....Sara....please wish Ben a very " Happy Birthday " from Margaret and Gareth. Like you, reading some of the younger Mom's and their kids, brings back a flood of memories....some good, some bad. All in all, though, it is just like our 'normal' kids......there are good phases and there are the challenging phases of growing up. <<My name is Stacey. I am married to and we have have 2 daughters. Randi is 11, and Maggie who will be 9 in March. Maggie has ds-asd and is deaf.>> Hi Stacey and welcome to the group. My son is Gareth, who is 19 y/o, and has the dual dx of DS/Autism. He was officially dx'd when he was 5-6y/o.....quite a rarity back then. I have been with this group for years....I think more than 9 yrs!!! What part of the country do you live in? Maybe there is someone close to you. Take care, Everyone. Margaret **************Start the year off right. Guest guest
Thank you for replying. I'm guessing I am a bit older than you, but that should be the point - the order of things - you should be able to learn from me, and yet I often don't even comprehend what we've both been through. I've become reclusive, but the GOOD NEWS is that my marriage is in tact. We just don't wander out much because of our 'limitations'. This has become a HUGE reality since our other kids became adults. All through the school years, our kids were always in the same school and one year apart and I didn't prep myself for everyone going their own way and it has been painful. I frequently feel imprisoned...frequently blessed...frequently try not to think about it... > > <<Ben turned 23 yesterday.>> > > Hi, Everyone....Sara....please wish Ben a very " Happy Birthday " from > Margaret and Gareth.
