Compliance training for

The other thing I wanted to tell you all about is that thank you God our $ went

thru for behavioral services YAY!! We had a first session last Saturday with

our wonderful CBA for compliance training. We are going back to the very

beginnings of 's VB (ABA) program to work on compliance and eliminating the

aggression and SIBS. Obviously the Risperdal route was not going to work for us

(even tho it almost knocked her out she was still fighting... then she got the

EPS stuff).

Anyway I've never had the chance to see our CBA at work full steam ahead like

this. It was a work of art to behold. She is unbelievable. It was painful for

mom to watch but really exhilarating when it worked (after 2 hours). One of the

sessions was actually an hour of full on body contact (nobody got hurt except

our CBA) until finally relaxed and stopped fighting and the bells went off

for her that this was no longer going to work.

It was fun to watch her the next day in session with our behavioral assistant.

We knew she got the message when she raised her hand to hit the BA then stopped

herself, thought better of it and finished her task and was rewarded. I'm

probably not describing this very well but ABA is fantastic in my book...not

something (compliance training) I would want to try myself, but in the hands of

a super pro it's really an art.

Unfortunately you've got to be in alot better physical condition than I am to do

it right but I am hopeful finally that we can put an end to this insanity soon.

Sherry,

You, not describing it well?

I am visualizing it as you wrote this post.

This is exactly where I had some training with the CPI, as 's

provider to block where needed without restraining him and of course

implemented the ABA/VB therapy once again since having his underlying

medical issues settled to a point to redirect him now on getting back

on track. Still has his moments but what a relief for me to figure out

what was going on and knew exactly which strategy to use.

What wonderful news with the approval of the funds for the behavioral

services, sounds like a good therapist too.

Amazing how finally made that connection, such a trooper the CBA

was able to address the basics is a huge step.

Looking forward reading updates within time.
