Hi Barb,

Nystatin works where it goes through your digestive tract, but Diflucan

works systemically to kill fungal infections throughout your body.

From what I've read, I wouldn't use either long term.

Probably but thought I'd ask. Also compared to Nystatin. I'm on long term

antibiotics and I wondering which one might work

I've taken both diflucan and sporanox and for me diflucan works the best. I've

only been taking D for about a month hopefully I'll be able to stop taking it

soon.

I had systemic Candida per blood test results about five years ago and I think

it leaves 'seeds' behind, (my idea), because it seems I develop symptoms easily

back; so taking long term antibiotics will be a problem but I do have to take

them so the dilema. Anyway, I've done wonderfully previously on Difflucan but

I'm beginning to not feel any different after I take it. I used to feel better

after my dose, now I feel the same, so I'm afraid it's not working any more and

not sure what I will do through the rest of my course of antiB's. I think I'll

try something otc like Candigone for awhile and if that doesn't work, ask my doc

to switch me to Nystatin. Maybe if I keep it down in gi tract, my body can take

care of the rest.
