Margaret-

What a fantastic update on Gareth! I'm so glad Sherry asked you and I'm so

glad I read your reply. I will go to sleep tonight with my spirit inspired by

Gareth's adventures at college. He is a wonderful inspiration. And I hope that

Caribbean vacation comes soon for you! And congratulations on the move.

Hugs,

Donnell

Hi, Everyone....Sherry...you had asked about Gareth's sclero and he's

doing

pretty well. He still tires very easily.....usually comes home from school

and lays on the couch till suppertime. Bedtime is around 7-7:30 each night.

We had a bit of a scare the beginning of Nov when one of his thyroid tests

came back high (Free T-4). After a more extensive round of testing, though,

everything is in the normal range. His rheumie is going to watch that more

carefully in the future.

It's funny that he was so gung ho on moving to State College and going to

PSU, meeting new friends, and getting his own apartment. Well.........in Oct.,

he refused to stay at the college apartment at all. MAJOR

anxiety/separation issues!!! The beginning of Nov, his teacher told him he HAD

to stay over

on a Friday night, Nov 9th. (it was at my request). OH MY GOSH.........did

we ever hear about it!!! " Be nice your son " " You no love me " " Pick me up

morrow? " He called us 3 times on Friday night to make sure we were coming to

get him!!! He called at 6:30 Sat morning. We told him he had to stay till

10:00 (normal pickup time) but the coach called us at 8:00 to come and get

him because he was panicking. Anyways, we talked it over and the teachers

made him feel so proud for staying one night. I think because he has absolutely

NO understanding of time (he talks about 4 yrs ago like it happened

yesterday, etc.) that he really had it in his mind we were NEVER coming back to

get

him!!!

Well, we had a contract on our house in Lititz and the closing date was Nov

30th. I asked his teachers if they wanted to try Gareth for that whole week

(Nov 26th-Dec 1) or should I take him out of school for the week since I had

to be in Lititz that whole week to pack, move, clean, etc. They said to let

him stay here. He was NOT a happy camper about that!!! Do you know how hard

it is to walk away from your kid when he's upset and wants to go with

you?!?!? I felt like I was walking away from a 2 y/o having separation

issues....minus the crying, though. He did fantastic the whole week!!! We made

sure to

call every day, sometimes twice a day, and they had a calendar that he

marked off the days till we came to get him. He had to go with the group and buy

groceries for the week, helped cooked suppers each evening, cleaned up after

meals, vacuumed his bedroom on Friday so he could leave Sat morning, learned

to open and take his own meds (something I would never try). He called at

6:00 Sat am.... " come get me " The coach called back and said he had to finish

his chores first....strip his bed, wash the sheets, towels, and his dirty

clothes, get them dried and folded. By 8:30, another call " come get me....NOW "

All in all, though, he did fantastic.

He's got his own cell phone now and calls from school to let me in on

something that just happened. The teachers are the ones pushing it.....making

him

just like a normal college kid. I told them his brother, , never calls

me!!! They have a field trip planned in May....to Chicago for a week!!! Only

students, mentors, and teachers are allowed to go. I already told DH we ARE

going somewhere alone......the Caribbean.....here I come!!! Hopefully, by

May he will want to go on the filed trip and won't worry about it.

Soooooooooooo, how's with her IBD. Meds working on her?

Take care, Everyone.

Oh Sherry - and I don't mean the Journey song!

I just finally watched Tuesday night's Idol tape from Omaha. WIER-DOS! How

bout the x-wrestler who almost took out!

And I guess I didn't see your audition on Wednesday night. I can't imagine

they didn't like that. Was off to the side in the audition room clawing at

her chest in pain from her period? Maybe that's where the problem lay?

I trust a shared the bottle with you!

OMG - I'm losing it over here.... LONG WEEK! Bear with me!

Well I wouldn't have to do this job if I had passed my audition with the Miami

American idol. Simon didn't appreciate my standing there in a bathrobe singing

" Bumping Up and Down in my Little Red wagon " taking intermittent swigs from a

bottle of Jack s.
