Doxil/KS Update

Hello everyone, I've had 3 Doxil treatments so far, and the only side-effect right now is low WBC and neutriphil counts. I gave myself an injection of Neulasta to boost the WBCs. Neulasta comes with its own side-effects, like bone pain, muscle aches, and pain in spleen and enlargement of spleen. Tylenol seems to help this. I have no new lesions, and my existing lesions have dramatically faded. My oncologist said that I may only need one more treatment I'm doing so well. I've been off all 042 meds since August, except Epivir. Doc says that this will keep a certain mutation from happening that I don't need. (I know, I questioned the monotherapy as well, but I trust my HIV doc absolutely, totally) T cells still around 250, viral load actually dropped once I stopped my meds. I am now around 7000. My weight is back......way back.

I went from 121lbs in August to 162 currently. My butt has rebounded, and sunken cheeks look 100% better. I'm working out again as I can (I still have PICC line). I have to actually buy a new wordrobe, since my jeans don't fit anymore. My hemolitic anemia is gone!! I've had this for 2 years, with many blood transfusions. Last 5 CBCs showed HGB at 15 to 16.9 (16 is high normal, per Quest Diagnostics) I have been very sleepy through the day, so I explored the reason, and I discovered that its my anti-depressant, Paxil, that's been making me want to sleep. I now take Paxil at night, and it works well with Ambien for a good night's sleep. If any of you guys have KS and would like to email me privately you can do so, or we can keep it in our group. Sharing experiences makes some things less scary I think. I talked to 4 guys here that had KS and did Doxil, and after the emails, I could not

wait to start chemo, if you can believe that. I appreciate their input and sharing the experience with me. It made me much less scared. So, to sum it all up, I'm thankful and lucky to be alive. I give thanks for my docs, my RNs, and access to the best meds in the world. I also still posess the faith that I will live to be a ripe old age, and I believe many, if not most, of us will. Orlando
