Guest guest
My old neurologist had me on gabapentin for several years. I was taking 2700 mg a day. I felt awful but attributed it to the MS making me feel bad. Eventually, I got tired of taking the 9 pills of gabapentin daily ( in addition to about 10 other pills) and started weaning myself off of them gradually. Once I was off of it, I couldn’t believe how much better I felt. I felt like a whole new person. I felt like was so weighed down by that medication, energy level was definitely better, not to mention the spontaneous weight loss once off it. Guest guest
I was on Gabapentin for a few years, at a dose of 800 mg three times a day, until a couple months ago. I had no problems with it at all. It was a wonder drug for me. I used it for nerve issues. I have burning skin, and shooting, stabbing pains. I was on 300 mg three times a day, but it didn't help much, till we raised the dose. I can't say that I've had any side effects from it. I hope he gets relief soon. Before the Gabapentin, I was miserable. Blessings, Trista > > From: lucretia1419 > Sent: Friday, September 04, 2009 12:31 AM > low dose naltrexone > Subject: [low dose naltrexone] gabapentin > > > I am very aware, that gabapentin has been mentioned many times but I can't find the actual answer I am searching, so please help. Doing my usual verbal " advertising " for LDN I met somebody with SPMS who's on it and has been for about 8 months. He is 40 and wheelchair bound. But he is not in a very good shape and feels he is going downhill. He's very depressed and I had the feeling he was listless. His mother was with him, she was the one who had found LDN and convinced him of trying it. It comes across, that it was possibly very much her idea and he might have gone along just to please her, but not believing in it himself. Apparently he had some nerve and eye issue a few weeks ago and was prescribed Gabapentin. His mother feels that his feeling worse coincided with him taking the gabapentin. I have no idea what this is and promised to ask you about it. Could he feel worse because of the Gabapentin? Are there any issues with it and LDN? What are others' experiences? Thank you. > Lucretia >

Guest guest
Hi Leena, Gabapentin is the generic name for Neurontin, and yes it does help neuropathic pain. I took it short term for some wierd electric type 'sizzles' in my arm. It worked very well, and no more sizzles. Yes, there are side effects, one is seeing everything in blue. It that happens tell your doc immediately. More info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabapentin and http://www.rxlist.com/neurontin-drug.htm Gretchen
