Guest guest
Hi, Everyone........Gareth was put on Aricept yrs ago when it first came out for Alzheimer pts. It did nothing to him....good or bad. Can't hurt to try, though. I have heard that some kids react favorably with it. That is one of the main 'problems' with all of our kids....there is no 'one size fits all' formula for meds. As with any med, if it doesn't work or you don't like what you see, then you can always stop it. <<Well so what if he has horrible headaches and black clouds in his eyes....at least he probably won't have an unnoticeable seizure anymore. This is SO insane.>> Sherry....my thoughts exactly. I asked his PCP today about his views on seizure meds and he had some good insight. If they are once or twice a year or he's never going to be driving on the roads, then............ He said that headaches, muscle weakness, eye problems are all issues that most people have to 'adapt' to over a period of time. How am I suppose to know how Gareth is 'adapting' or whether it is really worth him being on them. It's not like he can communicate THAT well. Right now, he is complaining of his legs being 'so tired' and this 'black cloud' in his eye......all starting from 3 days of Lamictal. <<I tell you what, it has made ALL the difference in the world. He is on an extremely low dose (0.1 ml) three times per day and now he is just so loveable and kind & more cognizant.>> Ann.......I have felt this way for 10 yrs now. I feel Risperdal was a gift from God and still do. It brought Gareth back into our world....at age 10. Also, Gareth, to this day, will 'laugh' whenever anyone gets hurt or says 'ouch' . Drives me up the wall!!! " That is not nice " I will say. " Oh, sorry " . After all these yrs, though, he will still let out a laugh......like he can't control himself. Take care, Everyone.
