Guest guest
<<He's otherwise such a sweet, lovey little guy. But this is not sweet at all. Anyone have any experience with hitting and any successful strategies?>> Hi, Everyone....Beth,,,,all I can say is that when Gareth was in that stage, I too, did everything you are doing. The psych doc told me that Gareth has no control over his impulses.........yeah, right. I thought his actions were very thought provoking and manipulative. Carol....love the Birthday pics. Trisha looks cute in pink!!! <<Anyhow, he is about the size of a 7 year old, with much of the mentality of a 2 year old. Yet he has a terrific memory and loves singing...................I made Aidan apologize to her, which he did, sounding most insincere and I wished the floor would swallow me up. This is happening with more and more frequency - and when we get down to his level and tell him NO and use eye contact and reiterate that we do not hit or kick or grab (whichever the case is) people, he smiles, laughs and says " it's not funny " . >> Dianne........this does not sound like a 2 y/o mentality!!! I think your kid is a lot smarter than people give credit to. When Gareth was that size (and age, too) he was IN the cart.....not pushing it. He would crawl in the cart from a bench or the van door and I would pile the food, etc on top of him. That is the part he enjoyed the most.....having all the food on him. Now granted, it wasn't a whole cart full of groceries, but he was happier in there than outside the cart. <<I guess I'm really sick of listening to the barking and the banging on the tv.>> Jayne....I use to growl back at Gareth whenever I had heard enough. If he was growling angrily at me or something, then I would exaggerate the growling back at him. Usually made him stop because he'd start laughing or say " no growl " to me. It was ONLY for him to do!!! << let me know what you used to get the goop out of the hair? Does anything work?>> Sherry....Gareth's regular shampoo took it out OK. Our day........Had Gareth in today for his second round of antibiotics for his second bout of pneumonia in two months. Are we having fun, Yet?!?!? He is suppose to have his MRI of his brain on Thursday for this seizure that he had a month ago, but with his " hacking up hair balls " , I don't know how we will be doing that. We had to cancel last weeks appt due to coughing. Also......he had to go off the Depakote because he had 4 days of headaches the 4 days he was on it. Now he has to go off the Lemictal because he is seeing a 'black cloud' in his right eye!!! We have an appt with the eye doc on Thurs.......after the MRI. Yeah........life does go on!!! I will get to the rest of the messages later tonight. Take care, Everyone. Margaret **************Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living.
