Guest guest
Maybe I am the one standing in ignorance There are plenty of ways to load the machine vertically, yet there are not as many ways to load the hips in a transverse plane (a woodchop would use the hips - possibly - but the major way people increase the load is by having the hips rotate at a faster speed. I do not know of any machine that can grab on to my right hip and force me to rotate it faster in the transverse plane. Of course, I focus on the hips since that is a commonly accepted 'base of power' that most athletes try to generate power through. Guest guest
Using machines with weights while attempting to increase speed does work relatively poorly. I've found transverse resistance training with speed orientation to work far more effectively using JC Predator tubing. Primary use is with populations of persons 50 and well beyond, the majority exhibiting degrees of sarcopenia. Generally six-eight training sessions doing horizontal, high to low, and low to high choppers makes low back pain a thing of the past, reps in the 15-30 range with speed. JC Predators seem to be a unique product, a brainchild of JC Santana of Boca Raton, Florida. I believe he offers five resistance levels, with the high end green ones offering 70 lbs of resistance per tube. Three tubes attach to handles, and there are two sets of handles. The Predators have a lot of resistance training applications, limited largely by imagination. It's important to bear in mind that Predators are NOT another set of lightweight surgical tubing - their use can be very demanding for any sort of multiplanar or hybrid training. I personally find them far superior to weight for triceps work, incredible for lats, and capable of inducing some deep delt burns. I can only imagine what uses Vince Gironda would have found for them!
