Guest guest
Thanks Mark - I found that I had also lost much bone around the abscess. I, most likely, will be faced with a future of dentures, like my dad S(with CMT). I'd better check the eyes. Also, my medications cause severe dry mouth and I've lost a majority of my teeth due to the insane decay that takes place. Yes, teeth can directly, or indirectly be affected because of CMT. I had to have an emergency root canal. Does this make sense to anybody? Are the sensory nerves affected even in the mouth? I had been concentrating on the feet and hands but now I am forced to beware of the possibility of CMT affecting sensory nerves all over. -wheels (alias- fat left jaw)
Guest guest
Yep, I just went through the same thing. I had to get a re-treatment of a tooth that was root canalled 15 years ago. It was infected and I did not feel the pain either. Scary that something could be infected for a long time and not know it. Guest guest
My teeth are much better than friends without CMT. Guest guest
That's why they call it Charcot Marie TOOTH disease! LOL. Sorry, I couldn't resist. But yes. While CMT usually affects our hands and feet, it can affect other parts of the body as well. I get muscle spasms all over - thighs, hips, shoulders. My neuro says this is my CMT. I have had tests to rule out any other causes. > > Hello All - > > An interesting thing happened to me yesterday. Guest guest
I have noticed over the years that it takes more and more novacaine for me to get numb and my teeth are hyper-sensitive to pain. I never had any anxiety going to the dentist, but now i have to take a xanax to relax myself enough to get numb and i go in earlier than my appt as it takes longer for the novacaine to work. Someone mentioned eyes. I know when i was going to s Hopkins they always looked closely at my eyes as I believe there is a greater chance for glaucomo with CMT. Gretchen, is that correct? Guest guest
Wheels I wish; I had a root abcess under a previously filled tooth last year and it floored me; I have never felt such pain in my life. I couldn't lift my head off the pillow. Unfortunately, even despite root canal work, the tooth had to be extracted. Touch wood I never have a repeat performance! kind regards Fiona Glasgow, Scotland
