Guest guest
Wow! Alot of people.if they come out with a cure how would they treat everyone? > > I have been thinking about how many people there must be with CMT, those who don't know it, those who are mis-diagnosed, those who believe they have Muscular Dystropy, etc. I went back to the 2008 USA Population Estimates - there were 304,000,000. So, using the " 1 out of every 2500 people has CMT " factor, I came up with 12,160,000 people in the USA that would be estimated to have CMT. > > Staggering numbers. I wish we could pay a research team to give us an updated numerical issuance for CMT. That " 1 out of every 2500 people " is about 36 years old research. > > > Gretchen >
Guest guest
304,000,000 / 2500 = 121,600 people > > I have been thinking about how many people there must be with CMT, those who don't know it, those who are mis-diagnosed, those who believe they have Muscular Dystropy, etc. I went back to the 2008 USA Population Estimates - there were 304,000,000. Guest guest
If people are many enough, private companies will see the possible profits and thus invest in mass production..... the same approaches for other kind of treatments. May you be well and happy Caroline
Guest guest
The estimated number of people with CMT based on the estimated 2008 census is 12,160,000. Might the census happen to calcuate 1 CMT person in ??? people? I guess the number is only for people in USA. If including CMT people in Asia and EU, the number would be much larger. Guest guest
WOW, i sure didn't know that there were that many of us who actually have this disease, considering that most dr's have never even heard of it, i know i have to school most dr's i see if it is the first time i have seem them on it. i even had a dr one time who told me after seeing me for a whole total of about 3 mins that he didnt even think that i had it. i have been diagnosed by a very well known neurologist here...it's amazing how they think sometimes. and to tell them that there are certain meds that you shouldnt' take they really look at you like you are crazy til they go and look it up. that is why i keep up to date on all my meds...take care all. tracey
Guest guest
Caroline, Yes those 'estimated' numbers were from the 'estimated' USA 2008 census. * I used the 1 out of every 2,500 people have CMT * because that is the more recent figure. Previously it was * 1 out of 3300 * I agree with you, many, many more in the world with CMT. Gretchen
