Guest guest
Autism transition services – let your voice be heard In the next few years, there will be an avalanche of students with autism spectrum disorder graduating from high school. At age 21 these students will no longer be eligible for school services. Pennsylvania needs to develop transition programs to help these students further their education or obtain full-time employment in their communities. As chairwoman of the House Subcommittee on Special Education, I am holding a public hearing on autism spectrum disorder (ASD) transition services: House Special Education Subcommittee Hearing 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8 Room 205, Office Building burg I want to hear from parents, students dealing with the challenges of autism, teachers and local employers interested in getting involved. Please share your thoughts and concerns, and I will present your comments to the House Special Education Committee. If you know someone who has a child with ASD, whether they live in Chester County or in another part of the state, please forward this e-mail to them so they may also share their concerns with me. As always, please contact me for more information on this or any other state government-related issue.
