Since I'm going on 75 years old, my favorite authors are Neville Shute (Norway) and C.S. Forrester. But, I have all of the Harry Potter books as well. Eye problems restrict reading in print, but audio books fill in very well and I have many as I can enjoy rereading them many times over.
